Tales Of Monkey Island 2 The Siege Of Spinner Cay Review

Is the second chapter worth downloading?

Guybrush Threepwood is back again in this month's instalment of the five-part Tales Of Monkey Island saga.

After solving the mystery of the Flotsam Island winds in Launch Of The Screaming Narwhal last month, this time Guybrush has to head to the small island of Spinner Cay to uncover three hidden artefacts.

This second episode is slightly trickier than the first, with a couple of puzzles that will really have you scratching your head. As in the first episode, The Siege Of Spinner Cay also chucks in a couple of subtle (and not-so-subtle) references to the previous games in the series: fans of the third Monkey Island game should get a chuckle out of one particular scene.

That said, if you haven't played the first episode of this yet then that's really where you should be starting off. It's also a shame to see that Telltale hasn't managed to fix the sound-skipping and framerate niggles from the first chapter. Still, this is a witty, absorbing adventure well worth downloading.

I have to say, i didn't notice the issues nearly as prominentley as in the first cahpter. I also found this chapter to be alot funnier, although, if you haven't played Curse of monkey island, i would reccomend picking that up (along with downloading SCUMMVM) in order to get the full effect of certain scenes ( The manatee=Classic!)

I finished this almost a month back on PC. Great game, not as good as Chapter 1 though, but definitely worth the buy

the two problems in the first game was the constant framerate niggles, and inaudible voiceovers

the sound isn't much of a problem in the second one
but for the odd fish person you can't understand the purple text accompanying it is also illegible, i think i speel right?

the only framerate niggle here is on spinner cay, but it goes after you leave the game for it to load up,

hopefully ttg finally fix this next time.
