Yes, BBC Worldwide has got together with Blue Ocean to produce a special Sonic Screwdriver Wii Remote based on the Doctor's device.

There will also be a DS stylus modelled on the screwdriver while accessory packs will feature official artwork of the Doctor and Amy Pond. The accessories will launch in October.

As for the games, Doctor Who: Return To Earth will be released for Wii this Winter along with Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth for DS.

Current Doctor Matt Smith will lend his likeness to the game, as will his sidekick Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan. The two will take part in brand new storylines created by the Doctor Who production team.

    EPIC

Also, does anyone else think that the bit on the bottom looks big enough to maybe be a M+?

Agreed, hopefully it will actually work, unlike some other unofficial remotes. Also because it isn't made by nintendo it should only cost around the Ł20-25 region

  22. TheLupineOne Monday 6th Sep 2010 at 17:29

I don't see Nintendo allowing this... how are you going to put a Wii Remote Jacket on it?

  23. Shadowdragonica Monday 6th Sep 2010 at 17:41

I don't see Nintendo allowing this... how are you going to put a Wii Remote Jacket on it?

Maybe it will have it's own specially designed jacket...or it will have rubber grip already on it.
Either way I so want one!!!!! XD

  26. Linkfan42 Monday 6th Sep 2010 at 18:26

It's not a peripheral. It's essentially an awesome 3rd party controller! A really awesome one.

  29. Son_of_Shadoo Monday 6th Sep 2010 at 19:43

    Inevitable. But awesome.

  30. Switzerninmaster Monday 6th Sep 2010 at 19:51

They should make more of these unique remotes for other games. For example a golden PP7 for goldeneye wii or a banana one for DK. :L 8)

  31. Argetlam Monday 6th Sep 2010 at 22:21

DS would be closer to an actual sonic screwdriver...should be interesting if this makes it into an actual episode, maybe the Red Nose Day one?

  32. Tao Tuesday 7th Sep 2010 at 10:24

    Pre ordered.

How?! And Where?! The world needs to know!

    Exclamation mark!

  33. beevman Tuesday 7th Sep 2010 at 12:20

If only it came with a lifesize amy pond sonic screwdriver holder

  34. Reisen Tuesday 7th Sep 2010 at 14:19

Sounds like they've only made a game to justify developing this peripheral - not the other way around. Heck, the game in all likelihood is going to be terrible, but this swanky piece is something I'd definitely consider buying.

Bet it'll cost a bomb being from the BBC and all though.

  35. imk79 Tuesday 7th Sep 2010 at 19:37

Hopefully, this should open the door for the other versions of the Sonic Screwdriver to be made.

Screw the games, this is what I want!

  38. Redfish20 Wednesday 8th Sep 2010 at 18:13

finally the second most obvious use for a wiimote (in my mind anyway) gets realised!

If it makes the noises I'm sold (if not I'll have to make them myself  )

  39. dm_1782 Thursday 9th Sep 2010 at 15:13

    Dammit i want one :P

    Ace!

About time they brought out a proper doctor who game.. wonder what its gonna be like.

  45. Linebeck013 Sunday 12th Sep 2010 at 16:33

That looks awesome! I hope it makes the noises. As said above, the game will probably suck, but having a sonic screwdriver remote will be sweet!
