Super Mario Collection - first pictures

See the special Japanese box set

Today is the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. but the celebrations will continue into next month in Japan when Nintendo release a special box set called Super Mario Collection. Here are the first pictures.

It will be released in Japan on 21 October and the fancy red collector's box contains Super Mario Collection for the Wii, a 25 years of Mario history booklet which features unseen artwork and development materials, and a soundtrack CD featuring classic Mario themes from the past quarter of a century. Wow!

As for the game, it is a reproduction of Super Mario Collection which was originally released in Japan in 1993. This was given the name Super Mario All-Stars for its western release and was a SNES compilation of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario Bros. 3, It also included the Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels which was modelled on the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2.

The Super Mario Collection Special Pack will cost 2,500 Yen and there will only be a limited number available.

I would love that to come over here but i doubt it will. There should be something special released though- have you guys got a special free gift planned for the next mag considering it's someone's special birthday?! (even if the mag's a little more expensive i don't mind if it's REALLY special!)

maybe it'll end up on the stars catalogue... if we're really lucky...

edit: and it'll probably cost 10 million star points

id buy that! looks pretty cool to me

I'll probably get it imported and keep it sealed for a collectors item. 2,500 yen seems like a pretty cheap price but shipping from Japan is ridiculous.

Please release this over here, Nintendo...

  6. sciqueen Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 11:07

    I need it! :(

  7. LuX Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 11:25

I want to get this, but I wish they had done a Mario all stars and used modern graphics to recreate the games, I mean they pretty much have all the models they'd need from New Super Mario Bros. They did it with the original collection giving it nice new Snes graphics they should of done it with this too.

I really hope that this come over here to the United Kingdom. Super Mario Allstars was my first Nintendo game, which i had for Christmas several years ago (in 1993 i think) with my SNES, and it brought many good memories. I'm guessing they'll put it on the Club Nintendo on the Europe site (if it does come over here), as i noticed a link from the 25th anniversary Mario bros. page to the Club Nintendo page... Coincidence?

This could've been so good, but it's essentially a Wii port of a SNES game. Why not include some exxtras like... both Lands, Mario RPG, 64, sunshine...

I don't care how much it'd cost, just release this in the UK!

  13. kezz182 Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 14:59

It really needs to be released over here.

  14. choclate-milk Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 15:33

To be honest, I'm not all that interested in this. I'm not to concerned about the artwork booklet, and I already have Super Mario All-Stars.
Seems a bit redundant to me.

I want this SOOOOOOOOOOOO much its quite embarrassing

Actually, they did something similar back in late 2003/early 2004. They released a Collector's Edition which contained Zelda, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and a demo for Wind Waker. I got it when I bought Mario Kart Double Dash.

A bit gutted that there's no word of this coming out in the UK, but I'm still happy with some of the rewards they've put up on the Stars Catalogue for Mario's 25th. There's a Gold Wii Wheel, a plush ? block (which makes the classic coin sounds when you squeeze it), a Wii Classic controller made as a replica of the SNES pad, and my personal favourite, a Super Mario cap! :D Haven't had a Nintendo hat for a while since losing the last one on holiday a few years back, so I've forked out the last of my stars to order it

  25. FinalStar Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 19:43

Please please please please Nintendo! Release it here! I WANT it!! I would kill for it. Okay maybe thats just a tad extreme :P but I do hope they release it here.

  26. arkeous Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 19:48

Put it in the stars catalogue but please, Nintendo, let us buy stars. I need that Wii Wheel but would have to spend way too much on games to get it (I spent all my stars on an SMG Soundtrack which is awesome!!!). I would be happy to pay 10-20 for the Wii Wheel but buying 32 games?!?

  27. Psy.co Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 21:16

I just ordered the SNES pad but want this. Retail release please Nintendo.

  28. fisher2007 Monday 13th Sep 2010 at 22:04

  31. mikelink2518 Tuesday 14th Sep 2010 at 10:38

it's coming out in N america too, impartently

  32. AL X Tuesday 14th Sep 2010 at 15:42

Im with everyone else that wants it & in uk shops too!.

Surely nintendo knows that they can make money from this in europe or anywhere else for that matter.

Have got fond memories of playing all stars and I prefer the graphics of mario bros 3 in that version.

If they won't release mario all stars as a retail product in the uk, maybe they could sell it via the virtual console. Id be fairly happy with that, although the packaging for the japanese version looks very nice...

    Dear Nintendo,

Please release this in the UK, or stop showing TV ads featuring Jonathan Woss to celebrate Mario's birthday. Srsly.

    From, the general public.

The way I do it is divide the yen by 100 and that's roughly what it is in US Dollars. Then convert that to Pounds. It's never gonna be perfect but it's fairly accurate without using t'internet =D
