DJ Hero featured too much hip hop' - dev

Do you like hip hop? Would you buy DJ Hero 2?

Too much hip hop. That was the problem with DJ Hero that needed fixing for the sequel according to the game's Creative Director.

In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Jamie Jackson explained why there is a wider variety of music on the game's soundtrack this time. "I think we weighted a bit too much hip-hop in the first game. When you looked at the mixlist, I think it was about 60 per cent hip hop and all the other genres took the rest."

However, as Jackson explained things have changed for the sequel which is due for release on Wii on 22 October. "We wanted to change that and show a balance, because DJ Hero isn't a hip hop game. It has hip hop music in I, because hip hop culture is a big part of DJing, but so is dance, so is drum n bass, so is techno - there are loads of genres and we've got a great opportunity to cater to it all."

Of course hip hop will be represented in DJ Hero 2. RZA has provided two exclusive mixes but he'll be joined in the game by dance music DJ Tiesto.

Are you a fan of hip hop? Do you think Jackson is right to include a wider variety of music in DJ Hero 2?

Not really shocking seeing as it's the legend that is DJ Shadow that did the mix. Metallica get remixed loads anyway... although it will be odd hearing it mixed with Kanye.

Really looking forward to this game, great tracklisting.
