A Pokémon that's too strange? There's no such thing says Sugimori

Do you agree with him?

Ken Sugimori, the art director of Pokémon Black & White, has told Official Nintendo Magazine that there is no such thing as a Pokémon who is too strange.

As Sugimori revealed in part one of our Pokémon Black & White interview, a trip to the zoo provided his design team with inspiration for the new Pokémon.

However, within the roster of new Pokémon, there are some very strange ones (we're looking at you Vanillish!).

Yet Sugimori defending odd Pokémon saying "Strange means interesting. So we've never had a Pokémon that's been too strange to be in the game. If it's a little bit too much we tone it down into a useable Pokémon."

He also revealed that Fraxure was the first Pokémon he created for Pokémon Black & White.

"It was created by newly hired staff," said Sugimori. "It was created way before the project even launched. It was more like homework for the designer and it ended up being one of the Pokémon. This side looks like an axe."

Ken Sugimori will be in London with Junichi Masuda tomorrow for a signing session that will take place at GAME in London's Oxford Street.

Do you think there are some Pokémon that are too strange? Or do you like the odd ones?

Look out for the third and final part of our Pokémon interview tomorrow.

The strangest region are the ruby and sapphire pokemon. Ludicolo, Mawile, Spinda to name a few.
Seriously, do we need a dancing sombrero wearing duck thing?

    The ice cream
The white thing in the green ball
    Crappy overflowing garbage bag (WTF)
    WOOBAT
All very poorly designed, pokemon are starting to look like digimon, but i don't care! I already preodered it!

People always say these things, and it angers me. Older people, who played the first games, they swear up and down that Pokemon like Vanillish and Rotom (and all his forms) and Pokemon like Chandelure and Lampent... they say they aren't even Pokemon, and that the Pokemon teams are just lazy and have terrible ideas.
the first Pokemon game i played was Pokemon Gold Version (the original Gold, not the remake, Heartgold) and i have played ever since. it's been sooo many years, and i love all Pokemon! Pokemon is my favorite thing in the world, and i love all of them!
so to Ken Sugimori, i look up to you- thank you for giving us all of these Pokemon! and to people who say those things about but Pokemon, just walk away >=o
so i'm Kip. i play Pokemon under that name, i'm a Grade A Pokemon trainer, and i have raised countless Pokemon to their maximum strength and level. i raise my favorite Pokemon, not just the ones that i know can win battles.
so this is PkMn Trainer Kip with my opinion! =o

P.S: totally unrelated- i caught a shiny Litwick at Celestial Tower, while EV training last night! =D
