Rayman 3D isn't just a simple port says producer

How Ubisoft has improved the classic platformer

The producer of Rayman 3D has told Official Nintendo Magazine that his new 3DS game is more than just a simple port of Rayman 2.

Rayman 2 has already been released for N64, Game Boy Color and DS but according to Abderrazzak Elkaouni. this new version of the Dreamcast platformer has been improved for Nintendo's new handheld console.

"Rayman 3D isn't a simple port," Elkaouni told ONM. "We improved the game experience by adjusting the difficulty curve and the camera angles in the game. We also improved the game system and controls to provide all players with more accessibility.

However, it's not only the learning curve that has been altered. As Elkaoni explained: "We polished the actors and level visuals thanks to the capabilities of the console. Finally, we made use of stereoscopy to create more immersion so that the player really feels like he or she is diving into Rayman's universe."

You'll be able to find out if this new version of Rayman is worth buying by reading our Rayman 3D review on Friday.

Rayman 3D will be released for Nintendo 3DS on Friday. It is one of your most wanted Nintendo 3DS games. Here are the latest Rayman 3D screenshots.

Look out for the full interview with Abderrazzak Elkaouni later on today...

Can't they just make a new great game, theres only so many ports of a game you could make. Granted, the game IS good, best Rayman I have played and making it on three or four consoles is fine but after that your just over polishing the stone.

I want to buy it. I will not pay it's full price! I will probably wait until it has gotten cheaper.

It was on the N64/PS1 generation, then PS2, then DS, and finally the 3DS. So while it has been on more than four consoles, many of them were simultaneously.

Ocarina of Time was on N64, Gamecube (as Master Quest), and now the 3DS, so that has only been in one less generation.

I'd love to get it considering Rayman 2 is one of my all time favourite N64 games, but I am still a bit skeptical and will save it for another time, especially after that dissapointing DS remake (Ironically, it was also a launch game for the DS).
    Nintendogs + Cats it is.
