LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars review: Whereas the first two LEGO Star Wars games were based on the new and old trilogies respectively, this threequel instead is based on moments from the Clone Wars animated series. These moments aren't exactly as memorable as those in the movies and as a result, it loses a little something when they aren't immediately recognisable.
As long as you still enjoy playing the LEGO games it won't disappoint. Don't expect any huge changes here that completely revolutionise the way you play LEGO games - the only real additions are new classes of character that do slightly different things.
There's a variation on the Clone Trooper, for example, who's armed with a ruddy big machine gun and can fire off hundreds of shots as you strafe him left and right, which is fun.
A New Poke
This being the 3DS version, a lot of touchscreen use has been implemented. Most of it can be skipped - you don't need to slide up on the touch screen to use Force powers when the A button will do - but some of it is mandatory, such as drawing a circle on the touchscreen whenever you have to cut open a door with your lightsaber.
These are fine, but the touchscreen mini-game that appears every time you access a panel with an R2 droid is annoying.
Of course, those are the few negative points in a game that generally satisfies, mainly due to the tried and tested LEGO gameplay getting the job done yet again. There are even vehicle-based levels chucked in every now and then to heep things interesting, and they're a lot more entertaining than the hard-to-control ones in the previous LEGO Star Wars games.
LEGO Star Wars III doesn't exactly do anything new so if you're getting sick of that sort of thing by now then this really isn't going to change that, but fans of the LEGO series and Star Wars will get many hours of enjoyment out of it.

Just completed the first level in Sainsbury's supermarket! I like what I've seen so far. By the way ONM, you've called the game LEGO Star Wars II in your tweet, it should be III. I'd say 79% is a fair score, and agree with the verdict.
thanks 4 the honest review onm.I just want a solid game 2 get me through the 1st month, ordered this off amazon.
Its not rocket science UBISOFT.
I think I'll ask for this and SSFIV because it will have more of a story and last longer than Pilotwings Resort.
The 3d works pretty decent, but I haven't seen a game with bad 3d yet.
Is this a port of the Wii version or an entirely individual game? Thanks for the revw.
A decent game, but it feels as though nearly everything has been left out of it. I have been keeping up with this game ever since it was first announced. The whole story swap mode has been taken out, the whole idea of exploring the Star Destroyer and travelling to different planets has been taken out. Half, if not more, of the levels are missing and all that other extra content promised isn't there. The 3D effect isn't the greatest on offer of all the games, and I do seem to remember that the minigame thing is a 3DS extra. Anyway, that's all of the negative stuff out of the way.
On the plus side, the story mode is quite good and for any completionists out there, finding and unlocking (plus buying) everything will take quite a while. The combat system is good and all the classic lego format play is still there, so I agree with this score as well.
Bought this game yesterday with my 3ds and I have to say I'm very impressed. Yes it follows the same tried and tested Lego format but the 3d graphics are great and add a little someting extra to the game and gameplay. I think this alone keeps the franchise fresh and I'd definitely buy more 3d lego games! Roll on the Mario games, Layton and Zelda OOT! Gonna be amazing!
Will there be a review of the Wii Version?
Lego Star wars is always more fun in co-op mode.
Does the Wii version lack anything from the Xbox version?
Graphics won't be as good, but I don't care about them.
Read my post:
Just to clarify, even this is the 3DS version, I am more than certain the 3DS version follows roughly the same as the Wii version. I'll list here what's missing from the 3DS version just to make sure.
Second season and episode two missions have been taken out.
Missions included are shorter.
Explore the Reprisal concept removed.
Battlefield concept removed.
Light side story only. HD versions have light and dark.
Story Swap concept took out.
No multiplayer.
That's all I know of so far that's missing, but I'll add more when I find it. Somehow, I think even some of the first season missions have been removed as well, even though you can still get those characters.
I thought that was what was missing from the 3DS game. It is missing from the Wii version too?
I doubt I will be picking this game up so, I am not paying for half a game.
I was looking forward to this game too
79%? Still beter than I was expecting.
3DS Whishlist
Pokemon White
Okamiden
Lego Star Wars 3
D.O.A Dimensions
All handheld versions are like this.
I'm guessing the Wii version will be better so don't worry too much, omegoku.
Wii version will b like the other consoles, just downgraded graphics, probably a few things less, but still better than the handheld versions.
not a great leap forward for the lego games then, hopefully lego pirates of the caribean will change that
NOT A GREAT LEAP FORWARD FOR LEGO GAMES?
You had better try the console versions then. Read that list mentioned above and try to find out more, preferably though the LucasArts website, and you'll see how it's a great leap forward for lego games.
Where's the Wii and DS reviews ONM.
I kinda want to get it but I might wait till Pirates and get that.
whens thios game gonna be released

Already out.
Got three Lego Star Wars III Streetpasses yesterday. 50,000 studs per streetpass!!!!

I can tell you now, don't bother with any of the handheld versions.
GET YOURSELF A FULL FLEDGED CONSLOE VERSION.
After buying the PS3 version today, you are a dunce if you buy the handheld versions. Yes they are good. But they aren't even half the game of the console versions.
I was right about thhe Story Swap mode, and the fact you can explore a Star Destroyer and jump to different planets. You can even explore a CIS cruiser if you get enough gold bricks. There are a lot more levels too and the battlefront mode is way better than the missions on the handheld versions.
