New Doctor Lautrec and The Forgotten Knights 3DS trailer

Is he really the new Layton?

With a UK release date for Professor Layton and The Mask Of Miracle yet to be announced, fans of the puzzling professor might want to take a look at Doctor Lautrec And The Forgotten Knights when it's released in the UK this summer. This UK Doctor Lautrec and The Forgotten Knights trailer will show you what it's all about.

It may star a doctor of archaeology who wears a hat and solves puzzles but this looks like it won't be just a Layton rip off. For starters the director is Noriaki Okamura who has worked on Metal Gear Solid.

Jean Pierre Lautrec is the doctor who is joined by Sophie Coubertin who joins as they search for the treasure of king Louis XIV in 19th century Paris.

She's a student at Lautrec's Paris university who met Jean-Pierre while serving as a part time assistant and began working in his research facility.

Together, you'll explore caves and other underground areas, moving Lautrec around on the top screen while referring to the map on the lower screen.

We also meet the Knights Of The Iron Mask who serve the royal family and Jean Paul, co-leaders of a crime syndicate.

What did you think of that trailer? Are you looking forward to Doctor Lautrec and The Forgotten Knights?

I'll probably get this, just out of curiosity. As the biggest Layton fan on the forum, i feel it's my duty to see how they match up. ;)

I can't see it beating the epic Layton games though in all honesty.

Layton + Indiana Jones = Lautrec

While I prefer the look of Layton over this, it looks interesting and I can see it selling well. I don't really resent the fact that it is a blatant rip off of Professor Layton, from the name, hat, puzzle solving, animation style etc, it could offer enough new stuff and variety for it to be good enough in its own sense. Who knows?

Looks good. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Still looks like a Layton rip-off...but that can only mean good things. XD

I would prefer this game as a movie. The trailer looks brilliant but the gameplay sections look dull.
