Zelda Williams wants Majora's Mask 3DS to happen

Well who doesn't?

Zelda Williams has added her support to the campaign to push for the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D on Nintendo 3DS.

The campaign - named Operation Moonfall - began back in July after Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma said Majora's Mask 3D could be a possibility if enough fans demand it.

So began Operation Moonfall, a petition demanding the release of a 3D version of Link's dark N64 adventure.

It currently has 22,700 signatures and now celebrity Zelda fan Zelda Williams has tweeted a message of support for Operation Moonfall.

Williams wrote: "So wanted to tweet one out to the @opmoonfall folks. Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game, I'd love a 3D version!"

Zelda Williams appeared with her Dad, the actor Robin Williams, in a series of adverts to promote Ocarina Of Time 3D.

How long until Nintendo make a remake of a remake? Aren't they kind of running out of past games to flog? It would be a real shame if Nintendo had to release some new stuff...

Oh wait... does Links Awakening DX on VC count?

Unless a new Zelda title is released on the 3DS first I don't. Too many remakes are being made :(

At first I wasn't too fond of the idea but now, after looking into the game, I've come to believe that it's far better suited to my personal style than even OoT. The story sounds epic, the game-play is oddly brilliant and just about everything else seems beautifully twisted. In short, it's my kind of game.

That being said, I would be happy if they just made a direct port, cos the quicker I get to play this game the better. Also, I would love a Toon-link game on the 3DS in the style of Windwaker. So I hope Nintendo treat it more of a side-project than what they did with OoT.

they do release new games, we are getting a new zelda in november. though i have to say, i am not sure if a majora's mask remake is necessary.
ocarina of time was fair enough, it makes sense to remake the most well loved zelda game on the series' 25 anniversary. plus it helped give the 3ds' software library a big push.
but a majora's mask remake? that might be pushing it a bit. you can already get it on the virtual console and the 3ds' library is getting much better and so no longer requires remakes. so the game doesn't need to be made at all.

nintendo will have to draw the line on remaking games on the 3ds some time, and i think now is a good time. as great as it is to get ocarina of time 3d and star fox 64 3d, too many remakes will make the idea of a remake seem like nintendo are being lazy, as opposed to the remakes being great fan service.

maybe if they release it in a couple of years time.

I'd just rather have a brand new Zelda for the 3DS.

I don't either. ALttP or a new game or bust. I've played Majora's Mask to death.

Well, her tweet seems to have worked. There have been over 2000 more signatures since this news post.

I don't want it, Nintendo are doing too many remakes for christs sake.

  12. Kraikky Monday 22nd Aug 2011 at 12:53

Also i still have my copy on N64, i'd just go play that.

Of course she does,I bet she made a pretty penny out of all those ads with her father to pro-mote Ocarina of time 3D,nevertheless I would love a remake,as I've never played the original, but I want a Wind Waker remake a bit more.

    please happen

Maybe if they add more story and dungeons and get really creative with it. I only got Ocarina of time 3D because managed to get it for really cheap and love Legend of Zelda obviously

    Signed :)

If I want to play MM, I'll just whip out my N64 cart and play it on my N64. No remake, please, I've had enough for now.

"Waa give us new games instead of old new games"
Personally I want Majora's Mask to be portable so I can play it anywhere. Maybe they can add a thing where you design your own mask and use Street Pass to swap masks or something.

You say that as if its a stupid thing ask for. Why can't they just take the OoT3D engine and make a completely new Zelda from it? Wouldn't that be better than another remake?

  20. HotShotGamer Monday 22nd Aug 2011 at 17:23

nothing wrong with remakes just brings back good memories of a game which many people have played the new games systems. new games sometimes failed without trying sometimes I like remakes some are epic fail or sequal I have played but I dont think it fair how gamers acting on nintendo trying to bring back their best games ever made to a new geneation of gamers

I've wanted to play Majora's Mask for a while, but if it gets a 3DS update I'll gladly wait for that. Ocarina of Time 3D is just incredible, so I'll be awaiting a Majora's Mask announcement with bated breath.

  22. 72HoursRemain Monday 22nd Aug 2011 at 19:47

That is awesome. They have to make Majora's Mask 3D now, way too many people want it!

And those who are worried about it preventing a new Zelda game need to not be, because it won't, there is no way that Nintendo won't put a new Zelda game on the 3DS. Majora's Mask 3D would just be in addition to whatever new games we get.

A port of Majora's Mask would take far longer to make than a brand new game, it would as well as a new game, not instead of. Besides, Grezzo would do most of the work, not Nintendo.

There are good and bad things to a remake of Majora's Mask.
Pros: It gives the younger generations a chance to play the classic, and a chance for the people that did play it to bring back memories and relive the nightmarish, yet the epic quest that is Majora's Mask.
Cons: Nintendo would spend time that they could be making a new Zelda game on the remake.

I personally think that it should happen, as I would really like to see a Majora's Mask remake with updated mask animations, updated graphics and Skull Kid actually being creepy and shudder inducing again, rather than a flute blowing 'come play with me' kid that was in Ocarina Of Time 3D.

This. It probably won't stop Nintendo from working on a new 3D Zelda.
My greatest hope is that the new 3D Zelda abandons the Wind Waker look and either goes for a new look, the OoT Link look or adapt the old style handheld zelda look somehow and make it 3d- so you're looking down at link.
