The new Wii bundle will include the Wii console in blue and a copy of Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The new Wii was announced in August. This new Wii is the same size as the old Wii but is designed to sit horizontally rather than vertically. Also, the new Wii is no longer compatible with GameCube titles.

Are you going to buy Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games?

    No.

    No what? lol...

Great news! Although very late, but always good to get more colors.
Cant wait for a picture to find out what type of blue. I think it's a safe bet to go for Sonic blue ;-)

The end of the article asks if you're buying the bundle, so I said 'no' lol.

aha aha yes of course haha

would you get a blue one if you didnt have a Wii yet?
I've been toying with the idea of getting a custom Wii case in a different color, just to replace the one I have, it's a bit cracked.

    cool

A Sonic/Sega Blue Wii would be awesome, although the blue LED right lose its prominance.
But I will be getting the new London Olympics game. From what I've been of the new Dream Events (the only reason to play the game in the first place) they look really fun and even more full of retro goodness, like the long jump that looks like its set in a patchwork stage from Yoshi's Story.

Sounds good,I suppose Nintendo want to make as much as they can on the Wii before the Wii U comes out.
I might get Mario and Sonic when it's under £20,or even wait for the 3DS version next year.

Nintendo bundling Sonic with their console?

I think the me from 15 years ago would laugh if I tried to explain such a concept.

Haha, true that! I remember the days of fierce console competition between them. Who would have thought to see this

This is stupid, what's the point of releasing a new wii? It's the same but a different colour, and it can't play gamecube games.

    Reducing production cost.

If that's all they're worried about they should just make no more Wiis at all!

Far too late. The Wii should have been available in different colours at release. I can't imagine many of these selling, except to the most hardcore of collectors.

Looks like Nintendo will be releasing a limited edition Wii at the end of every year now, although I imagine a green one next year will be the last because of Wii U. There's been black (Which is no longer limited), red & now this! Also, people who are saying the new Wii is pointless are stupid. Firstly, it can't play GC games - this eliminates the need for a GameCube engine, memory card slots, or GC controller ports. Secondly, because it's placed horizontally, it eliminates the need for a stand or a holder. All of these things will greatly reduce the cost and because the Wii's already only £100, it'll be cheap as chips.

First- I already have a wii.
Second- why would I buy one of these when I know the Wii U is coming soon.

why do we need alldiffrent coloured wiis when the wiiu is out next year it seems like another money making move by nintendo

  17. linkfinity Monday 10th Oct 2011 at 18:23

lets be honest guys. this is just nintendo trying to squeeze a bit moah mulah out of the wii before the wii u comes out, they did it with the ds as well, like the pokemon ones remember, the low price wil make parents think "oh maybe little tommy would like a wii for xmas..." hence giving nintendo some dosh. i have no issue with this though, as my wii is kind of broken so i need a new one. and if it gives them more money to keep developing awesome soft/hard ware, then great! plus it just might whack a few months onto the wiis life span. giveing devs time to make a dencent wii u line up, so it will do better than the 3ds launch.

My little brother has pre-ordered this game for his birthday even though his has just been. He loves the M&S olymipic games series and he can't wait for it to come in November. He has pre-ordered this from the GAME website and when it comes he will get a free Mario & Sonic T-Shirt.

I would if it was the same blue as Sonic and came with red and white Wiimotes!

    Oh. God. No.

First you completely ruin the Wii by taking away backwards compatibility, then you get the result of that, and ruin it even more by adding a horrible, out of taste lick of paint onto it.

    Yuck.

Unless you actually look up the WiiU game won't tell you, nor will Gamestation since they still get a ton of sales from Wii consoles (New and pre-owned), and if it comes with a game containing both Mario and Sonic, then it will sell, though without GC games I would never buy it, even though the colour is not that bad
