Super Mario 3D Land StreetPass Time Attack mode revealed

You'll be able to show off how fast you can speed run levels in Super Mario 3D Land via StreetPass.

Last week we learnt that you can Iwata Asks discussion.

Speaking about the difficulties of including StreetPass features in the new Mario game, Hayashida said: "To be honest, it was so hard that at one point we gave up, but Koizumi-san said he definitely wanted to put it in. (laughs) After you clear the normal stages, you unlock the Time Attack mode and can see the times of people you have passed and determine whose skill level is like yours. You have a friendly race with people about your level and enjoy shaving away your times."

Hayashida added: "This time, you can even pass by people who don't have the game! If you pass by someone's Mii character someplace like the StreetPass Mii Plaza application, you can receive an item from that Mii character at Toad's house. If you pass by the same Mii character again, you get something better."

Games such as Nintendogs + Cats and Super Street Fighter IV 3D have made good use of StreetPass but as Miyamoto told The Telegraph, Super Mario 3D won't "unless a spectacular idea comes to mind."
This sounds like a spectacular idea to me. Can't wait.

Ive always wanted to be able to record my level best times.In Super Mario 64 DS I could get to the top of Whomp's Fortress in 54 secs!

Sounds good, but I seriously doubt I'll make use of it as I've had 3 streetpass hits since the day before the 3DS' launch day!

AMAZING!!! cant wait for it. though hope fully it will expand online as well through a DLC with a leader board, ghost times and competions. moreover those who get to the top 10 could get something special. happy haloween
