Kyotokei Review

Remember Ikaruga? This does

Fans of legendary GameCube shooter Ikaruga will be familiar with Kyotokei's key feature. The perspective might have changed but this side-scrolling shooter has nicked Ikaruga's colour-swapping idea wholesale.

You'll face foes who fire either blue or red bullets and you can switch your flying bird's colour to match that of the enemy fire so you absorb it, fill your power meter and unleash

a rocket best saved for a boss.

It's as hard as Ikaruga too, as bullets fill the screen while enemies home in on you from all angles.

The brutal difficulty level makes it an acquired taste and it may seem unfairly tough. But Ikaruga fans might find it short when they defeat the final fifth level within an hour. Still, for just 500 Points, this is a good option.
