You get what you pay for with Cosmos X2. Anyone shelling out £1.80 for a DSiWare shoot 'em up won't be expecting much more than a basic blast through space.
It's no looker, but Cosmos X2 does have a neat feature which lets you select primary and secondary modes of fire and switch between them as you fly around avoiding asteroids and enemy fire.
The homing projectiles enable you to concentrate on not getting hit as the screen fills with bullets and asteroids. You'll need them too - this is a hardcore challenge that gets tough from the second level in.
Yet it's so dated and slow it rarely feels exhilarating when you avoid a laser blast by millimetres and take out a boss. Worth £1.80? Probably, but that's not saying much.
