Mario Kart 7 is number one in Japan

Mario Kart takes pole position while Super Mario 3D Land is at number three

It has been a great week for Mario in Japan as Mario Kart 7 has gone straight in at number one in the charts while Super Mario 3D Land remains at number three.

Mario Kart 7 reached number seven in the UK but has gone down to number 10 in this week's chart. Yet, it's a different story in Japan as, according to the latest Media Create figures, the game shifted over 400,000 to take top spot in the chart.

Here is the latest Japanese top 10. You'll also notice that Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword, Itadaki Street (AKA Boom Street) and Kirby's Return To Dreamland (AKA Kirby's Adventure Wii) have all gone top ten.

1) Mario Kart 7

2) Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs.

3) Super Mario 3D Land

4) Assassin's Creed: Revelations

5) The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

6) Itadaki Street Wii

7) Kirby's Return to Dream Land

8) Power Pro Kun Pocket 14

9) Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes Fourze

10) The King of Fighters XIII

At least games on Nintendo systems are getting the recognition they deserve in some territories.
I just hope that when Last Story and Pandora's Tower get released as UK Wii exclusives next year they won't be as overlooked and ignored as some of the past month's Nintendo offerings.

I don't think Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land have been ignored over here. Admittedly they haven't gone to number one as they have in Japan but Mario Kart 7 is still in the top ten and Mario 3D Land has only just dropped out.

Maybe Mario Kart 7 will go higher as the months pass by plus if i'm not mistaken Mario Kart DS was number 1 for quite a while.

Quite the difference from the UK's top ten.
