The only Nintendo developed titles that were available for the 3DS launch were Pilotwings Resort and Nintendogs + Cats but Nintendo want to make sure that it has more great Wii U launch games, including great first-party titles.
Speaking with Industry Gamers, Nintendo Of America's Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Moffitt said: "One thing that was clear with the 3DS was that the launch titles didn't have the impact of Super Mario 3D Land or Mario Kart 7, and that software was the biggest reason the 3DS did well over the holidays.
He added: "Software drives hardware; we found that out with 3DS. There was great anticipation of course for Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but a lot of consumers were waiting for two or three other Mario titles so that when they bought the hardware they had great high-quality games that they were dying to play right out of the gate.
"We expect to have great first party titles but also great software support in general for Wii U when it comes out later this year
"I think with Wii U we want to make sure we have great software right at launch."
We already know that Ninja Gaiden: Razor's Edge and Darksiders 2 are lined up for the Wii U launch but these our ONM's Dream Wii U launch games.

with any luck we'll get pikmin 3
Pikmin 3, F-Zero and Star Fox please!
Yeah Pikmin 3 seems really suited for the Wii U controller, and I'm sure I don't need to explain why, but I also think Starfox would work really well with the controller, not only that maybe finally we'll get an online Starfox game.
I really am hoping for a Starfox at this years E3, of course I want Mario and Zelda, but at the minute we've had our cake and ate it so to speak with both of these franchises, and Nintendo has so many other great characters to explore with the Wii U.
it would be awesome if you can control the pikmin with the tablet in pikmin 3
I think that the WiiU will probably have an fairly good launch lineup of games from third parties, such as Darksiders 2 and Lego City Stories. However, I believe we'll probably only have a New Super Mario Bros. Mii style 1st party game to entertain ourselves with, which is disappointing as I only really play Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. We'll probably have some Mii based games shipped with the system, too - But I would love to see an F-Zero game at launch. Oh and I'd say theres a good chance we'll see Pikmin.
Even though I already own it, Batman: Arkham City should be a launch title (if it already is, feel free to correct me).
We know of New Super Mario and Wii Play/Party/Motion thingy, but Nintendo haven't revealed any other first party games for launch have they?
i think you'll find those 'games' were tech demos and not actually full games. just examples of what the wii u could do
okay, thanks for that nintendo
Just make sure LEGO City Stories is a launch game, because I have no interest in any of the 3rd party titles, oh and some 1st party games would be good too.
Pikmin and Metroid i reckon. Pikmins already been in the works for a while and Metroid would be the best to show off the HD and the controller and we haven't had new metroid for almost two years
Your innovation inspires me NINTENDO!
I think Wii U will conquer the world! Don't worry i'll follow you gladly! ^__^
Zelda, Mario, Pokemon (like stadium not revolution) Metroid would be cool, so would pikmin and starfox would be awesome as a online game.
Um, I'd be happy with just one great first party launch title actually; I'm well willing to sacrifice a couple of months worth of meals to be able to afford the console and play the next truly great Starfox (fingers crossed) but I'm not sure I'm quite dedicated enough to fast long enough to afford new Metroid's, Mario's, Zelda's and F-Zero's straight away!
WiiU Sports at launch. COME ON it was at E3 like
beyond good and evil 2 better be there
O rly?
I hope so anyway. Though I intend to get, like, a phone or a TV this year. Hm. Will I have to choose between a Wii U and an iPhone? :/
