Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has told a Spanish website that the Wii U has more to offer than what was shown at last year's E3 show.
Speaking with 3D Juegos, Ono is reported to have told them: "What we saw last E3 is not a reflection of everything this console is able to offer. We have been trying the development kits and some of its new characteristics will improve its possibilities. It isn't something like Kinect or similar accessories, it's something different."
He added: "I can't tell you more about it because, if I do, Nintendo will send assassins to finish me! (laughs) But let's say that Wii U will be a console with so many and unique possibilities that it will be difficult to show them in the box they are going to sell it or to be published by magazines and other mediums,"
So when will be see these 'new characteristics'. Although Nintendo's US boss Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Wii U details are coming between now and E3, Wii U's final design will be shown off at E3 2012 which begins on June 6th.
The Wii U release date will land at any time between E3 at the end of the year, although Iwata said this morning that Wii U will launch "for the year-end season."
What could these new characteristics be? What more do you want from Wii U?

Well I'm guessing from what he said that these characteristics will only really become apparent when you see examples of them in a game. Like mode7, if we go back to the 90's briefly and someone told you the SNES can scale and rotate images you'd probably just shrug, if someone showed you Super Mario Kart your mind would probably be blown. I reckon it'll be the same sort of thing here.
Like the way the draw depth is compensated for in Skyward, about as exciting as a window violation to explain, looks beautiful when your playing the game.
He's laughing but Nintendo really does have assassins. That's why Neil has been missing in he podcasts.
Anywho, this is quite exciting. I cannot comprehend what these new possibilities might be, but I will be eagerly anticipating the Nintendo coference at this years E3. I didn't think I'd ever be as excitable as I was when Wii U was first unvailed, but with what Mr. Ono has said I may be even more hysterical.
I think Nintendo will demonstrate the graphical prowess of the WiiU at E3. But I think they should change the name because I don't think it appeals to everyone and it makes it hard tell it apart from the Wii. Nintendo should show off these characterstics and highlight there new found third party support!
It's quite exciting now we're within a year of the console being released. It's already looking like an awesome piece of technology, but I wonder if these new features TBA will be enough to justify a purchase at launch? Since I don't use my Wii at uni it's unlikely I'd take a WiiU, so for me I don't think it's going to be on this year's Christmas list. Nintendo, prove me wrong.
