Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney film getting worldwide release

We have no objections

The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney film will be released outside of Japan. That's the word from director Takashi Miike who told Twitch Film that plans are afoot to release dubbed and subtitled versions.

Following in the footsteps of Mario and Professor Layton, Phoneix Wright is the latest Nintendo hero to star in a film.

the film is based on the events of the first Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney game. It stars prosecutor Miles Edgeworth and Mia Fey and, as you can see from the trailer below, features plenty of finger pointing.

It's been a big week for Ace Attorney, what will the Ace Attorney 5 announcement and the all-new Layton Vs Wright screenshots. Would you have any objections to this being released in the UK?

I'm definitely gonna watch it when it reaches UK shores!

I also wish that the anime companies of Japan would make an Ace Attorney anime based on the games as there has never been anime set around the courtroom of law and justice.

HOLD IT! They're releasing it worldwide and dubbing it? I'm more pleased than I probably should be! While I know all the courtroom phrases in English and Japanese I would much rather hear Phoenix cry out "OBJECTION!" over "IGIARI!". Who wants "Kurae!" when you can have "Take That!". And "Matta!" over "Hold It!"? Please.
It also means that each dub will use that regions name translations, so we'll definately have our blue suited lawyer being referred to as Phoenix Wright rather than "Ryuuichi Naruhodou" which sits pretty well with me.

When it comes to watching Japanese programming, such as anime, I tend to watch it subbed apart from a few exceptions. This will definitely be one of those exceptions! Similar to MartinIsAwesome, I know all the courtroom phrases in Japanese and English, But I would rather hear Objection!, Take that! and Hold it! over Igiari!, Kurae! and Matta!

And I'd also rather have the English names for the characters over the Japanese, such as Phoenix Wright over Ryuuichi Naruhodou and Maya Fey over Mayoi Ayasato. Definitely looking forward to this film, can't wait to see how it all pans out. And hopefully the dubbing will be done well, because otherwise it'd be quite disappointing.
