I never relised just how glitchy this game is, espically going down the pipe in world 4 instead of going up the beanstalk.

    That is annoying.

*loads Super Mario Bros. on 3DS and gets as far as W8-1*

    That is really annoying.

First of all, Twin Galaxies uses a different method of timing the run, so it's not ten seconds faster.

Andrew's time is based on Speed Demos Archive (SDA for short) timing where it:

Starts once you gain control of Mario on W1-1 and it finishes on the frame where Mario touches the axe on W8-4
Twin Galaxies timing is slightly different,
They start the run as soon as you turn the console on. and ends when you hit the axe (I think).

The biggest difference as well is that Twin Galaxies does not accept glitches, so a run without the wall jump exploit on W8-4 and the pipe = beanstalk warp glitch on W4-2 will NEVER reach sub 5 minutes.

This player met Shigeru Miyamoto back in 2010 as part of Super Mario Brothers 25th Anniversary in America and he did a live speed run. He even joins marathons like Awesome Games Done Quick, this is the latest one that happened a month ago.

God I want to know how many hours of practice that took.

wow. I love how he still can't resist hitting that invisible block and killing the odd enemy. Or maybe he has to do that to get such a quick time, i don't know.

all i know is that i struggle to just finish the game.
