VVVVVV 3DS release date edges nearer

Retro platformer on the way to 3DS eShop

Whenever we announce the week's Nintendo downloads, one ONM forum member is guaranteed to comment: 'Where's VVVVVV?' Well, is looks like the VVVVVV release date could be getting closer as developer Nicalis has revealed that the game has got a PEGI rating.

Nicalis tweeted: ""Looks like we've got our PEGI rating!!! We're getting the file ready for NOE submission."

Of course VVVVVV is already out in the US but it has yet to be released in the UK, despite originally being listed for January 2012 on Nintendo's latest 3DS release schedule.

VVVVVV is a PC puzzle platform game that's being published for 3DS by Nicalis. You play as

Captain Viridian, who is lost in an alternate dimension. You have to control the direction of the gravity to enable Captain Viridian to flip between the floors and ceilings of the environment as he searches for the missing members of his spaceship's crew.

If you've played the PC version you'll know that every room has a new challenge, it's really difficult and, like the Bit.Trip games, it has tons of retro appeal.

Are you going to download it?

VVVVVV is a great game and has a really hard retro challenge. If you don't have it on Steam, it's a worthwhile purchase on 3DS.

Seconded. I can't think of a much better fit for eShop, simple but challenging and addictive!

Already have VVVVVV, so logic says that I shouldn't want it again... But I do, it's a fantastic game and for anyone who hasn't already had the chance to play it, you should :D

Yeah good call, where are those? I really want Cave Story especially, but why isn't it available anywhere? I've been in several stores (GAME, GameStation, etc, etc) and not one of them has even heard of Cave Story! :?

At least we're nearly there on VVVVVV though. Instabuy as far as I'm concerned..!!

I was referring to the original, released on DSiWare in the USA, but not seen the light of day over here!!

Not only a really good game, I'd go as far to say one of the best games made, period. Fantastic music, pseudo-retro loveable graphics, but most importantly solid, addictive and challenging gameplay that never frustrates. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone remotely fond of platformers.

Great news. After great a massive kick out of Cave Story, Bit.Trip Runner and Mighty Switch Force, I think this'll be a perfect addition to my download collection. Now all we need is La-Mulana! =D

I think I will buy it, it would be so much more convenient than having to play it on PC. If you don't have it you can get it on http://thelettervsixtim.es For Windows, Mac and Linux or on Steam. It was also in the Humble Indie Bundle 3
