Toki Tori 2 Wii U being considered

Will Toki Tori 2 be the first downloadable Wii U game?

Two Tribes wants to bring puzzle platformer Toki Tori 2 to Wii U.

The first Toki Tori game was released for Wii and now Two Tribes are promising to "do everything in our power" to ensure that Toki Tori 2 is released for the Wii U.

According to Two Tribes, the recent Nintendo Network announcement has inspired them to push forward with plans for Toki Tori 2 Wii U.

Two Tribes released this statement on the company's blog: "Nintendo recently released information on their online strategy, which sounds much more robust than before

"The 3DS eShop has been a big step in the right direction compared to the Wii and DSi online shops, and it would be strange if they did not at least match it's functionality on Wii U.

"Since Toki Tori 2 is designed to be a downloadable title, these things are vital to making the correct choice of which platforms to develop for."

As for the Toki Tori 2 Wii U game, Two Tribes think it would be easy to port from the Steam version which is set for release this Spring.

"Up until now we could just focus on the initial release for Steam, where we decided to go for traditional directional controls on keyboard or joypad. The translation of those controls to the Wii U controller should be smooth sailing as it features two analogue sticks and we only need two buttons for the whistle and stomp moves."

However Two Tribes believe the Wii U controller presents a unique opportunity as the game would be playable on the controller's screen.

Toki Tori 2 Wii U wouldn't utilise the Wii U's motion controls but it could feature a level editor with the game running on the TV with the player making adjustments on the touchscreen.

It's good to see them saying it won't use motion control. All to often with the Wii developers seemed to throw motion control in just for the sake of it, instead of seeing it as an optional method of play. I hope developers cotinue with this train of thought, I mean look at Nintendo with the galaxy games, a little waggle and a flick here and there because it was all it needed. but I know of some developers who would of made you flick the Wiimote up to jump every single time, or flick up and then slam down to bring mario crashing to the ground as he does.

I was just thinking the exact same thing when reading the story and I couldn't agree more. There's nothing worse thanh playing a game with 'motion controls' tacked on where it's painly obvious they don't fit. Wii is littered with games like that.
