Don't compare Darksiders 2 to Zelda - Creative Director

Darksiders 2 "10 times better" than the original

Joe Madureira, Creative Director of Darksiders 2, is hoping that his new Wii U game doesn't get compared to The Legend Of Zelda this time.

With its dungeon-based gameplay, the original Darksiders was often compared with the Legend Of Zelda games. Indeed, we even called the forthcoming sequel 'Zelda in hell' in our Darksiders 2 Wii U preview.

However, despite being a Zelda fan, Joe Mad is hoping that Darksiders 2 Wii U is only compared to the first Darksiders game this time.

"I'll be curious to see who we're compared to this time, but the only game we want to be compared to is the original Darksiders," Madureira told ONM. "We want people to say it's like the first one but 10 times bigger and better."

Joe Madureira tells us more about Darksiders 2 in the April issue of Official Nintendo Magazine which goes on sale on Thursday March 8th.

That's the opposite of what I was hoping for, I was hoping they'd make it more streamlined and scale down the dungeons. They were far too large in Darksiders 1, to the point where I think I only did 3 or 4 dungeons, because each one took too long. Don't get me wrong, they were fun to play and well designed, but it didn't progress at a fast enough speed, so I lost interest.

It's no surprise it was compared to Zelda, it was incredibly similar, and I won't be surprised if the second one is too.

I'm still interested in the game though, but as I have yet to complete Darksiders I doubt I'll get the second on release.

Darksiders 2 certainly looks interesting and the original been described as a darker zelda makes me think i will be picking this up on Wii U launch day. I can't help think it will be compared to Zelda even more this time though as for some Nintendo fans (myself included) it will be their first experience of a Darksiders game.

Well The Legend of Zelda is a great and revolutionary series, so if your measly little game gets compared to such a great gaming institution, take the complment with dignity mate.

And as for a Zelda comic book, don't be utterly ridiculous.

(Apologies if my words have offended anyone, sorry but it's just my opinion)

You do realise there's already a pretty successful Zelda manga...

Yeah I know. Your absolutely right. I picked up a copy in Game a few weeks ago and it was awful. Had no idea it was so sucsessful though, thanks for pointing that out.
