UK Charts: Metal Gear Solid 3DS misses top 40

Two Mario games in the top ten

There were mixed fortunes for Nintendo games in the UK charts this week. Mario Party 9 and Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games are still in the UK top 10 but Metal Gear Solid: The Snake Eater 3D has missed out on the UK top 40 altogether.

Mario Party 9 was the best-selling Nintendo game of the week but dropped two places to number five. Meanwhile Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games also dropped two places to number seven.

Didn't exactly help itself releasing so close to the HD collection. Also maybe releasing after the HD collection didn't help its cause either

I didn't buy it because I played the demo and was unimpressed with the bridge section and found the controls a bit fiddly even with circle pad pro.

I hope it picks up more sales though. I would like to see more games like this on 3DS.

il get it when its about Ł10, since when comparing to the HD collection thats about how much this game is worth

I supposed it didn't sell that bad, considering the HD collection has been released for a few weeks now.

was it available to buy in game?

Requiring an add-on for your 3DS, the continuing collapse of Game / Gamestation and the MGS HD collection pretty much doomed this game before it could hit the shelves.

I don't think Game has anything to do with it. After all, Mass Effect 3 isn't available in Game.

The key difference is ME3 was a big enough game to be stocked everywhere else, and one game that the general public cared about. MGS remakes aren't either of those.

its a shame games like this aent in the top 40 because then people arent going to make more remakes or games like this altogether for the 3ds. and this violent, tense game could have helped the 3ds reach a larger audience...

Not surprised. Most people who have a 3DS are probably like me:don't give a <deleted> about Metal Gear solid.

Thats the best all-format chart I've seen in a while! Mass Effect, Street Fighter/Tekken, Mario Party, Mario and Sonic and SSX etc. :D

Why does Moshi Monsters keep topping the DS charts?

Why does Moshi Monsters keep topping the DS charts?

Moshi Monsters is one of the biggest franchises for kids, and considering loads of kids love it,it's a no brainier it sells well.

The three reason why the game didn't sell well.

Metal Gear fans have probably played the original Snake Eater on PS2 to death,so it wouldn't be worth them buying it again.

There's too many triple AAA titles out at the moment,it was released the same day as Mass Effect 3(possible the biggest game of the year so far),Street Fighter X Tekken, and the upcoming Fifa Street to name but a few.

And lastly the HD is much better value for money.

I didn't even know it was out XD
