Why Assassin's Creed 3 will be better on Wii U

Ubisoft: "Having a larger map at your disposal is a big win."

Ubisoft's Alex Hutchison has explained why the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed 3 could be the one to hold out for.

According to the Creative Director, having a map available on the Wii U GamePad screen will be important in Assassin's Creed 3 as it is the biggest game in the series yet.

"Assassin's Creed 3 is obviously an open world game and we're dealing with huge expanses. It's by far the biggest Assassin's Creed we've built to date so having a map - a larger map - at your disposal at all times is a big win. It allows you to plan your navigation, see when enemies are nearby so the bigger the map, the better in our universe."

We can imagine this will work well when you're captain of the ship in naval battles which you can see in this Assassin's Creed 3 gameplay video.

He added that the GamePad could also help during the famous fight scenes. "During combat on the Wii U, you have always have access to all your other tools and weapons on the controller itself. So at any point you can very easily switch between your tomahawk and knife or hidden blades and sword without going into a menu.

"We have a new move called the running assassination. You can imagine charging into combat, taking out your first enemy, immediately killing a second with your tomahawk and knife, using a pistol to shoot a third and then switching using the controller to a smoke bomb to affect your escape."

The images show how this will be achieved on Wii U. Is Assassin's Creed 3 Wii U on your shopping list?

I hope there will be a trophy/achievement system like the PS3/Xbox because thats would also add great replay value. The map is not enough to entice me to get it on the Wii U to be honest...

Well, as far as I can tell from third party developers like Ubisoft, they have practically revealed that the Wii U will have an achievements system like the PS3/XBox.
    So that's good :)

I may be wrong, but I think even Reggie revealed something along those lines last year. I seem to remember him refering to them as "Accomplishments", which is incidently what the name given to the achievements in StreetPass Plaza.

No lets not have achivements. Having achivements basically stops people from cheating, and by that i mean the silly type of cheats where you can enter a code to spawn cars in GTA or add silly modes to Tony hawks pro skateing. Instead now you have to download DLC cheats. So yeah i dont want to see achivements on the wii u

Looks absolutely fantastic but I'll still get it on the 360 instead.

He confirmed that in a recent interview with IGN, he said that it was up to the developers and that Nintendo wouldnt make games have them.

What? DLC Cheats? That's nonsense. What games have you played that have DLC cheats?

And cheating doesn't always stop acheivements. If anything, some games actively encourage it - I've played some games where cheating is the only way to get some achievements!
