Reggie: Wii U launch games still to be decided

Nintendo still discussing which games should be released on day one

Nintenbdo may have released a list of Wii U launch window games but Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Nintendo has yet to decide which games will be available on day one.

Nintendo's US boss says that these decisions are still being taken as Nintendo assess the reaction from E3 2012. According to Reggie, this is also the reason why Nintendo didn't announce the Wii U price and release date.

"The rationale is this: We want to see what resonates," Reggie told The Globe And Mail. "We want to understand which games and experiences really resonate with consumers, and then use that information to make decisions moving forward. This is something we've done every launch year. We did it with DS, we did it with Wii, we did it with 3DS.

"We'll take all of the information coming from E3 and use it to make final decisions on launch date, launch price, configuration, launch day software, launch window software, and follow up-software. Because now we have the benefit of information."

im really hoping ZombiU is a launch game, would be nice to have a game like that from day one.

Nintendo Land probably will be. I'm hoping for Zombiu, rayman legends, project p - 100 and pikmin 3

A few games like,Assassins Creed 3,Just Dance 3,Rayman Legends, and New Super Mario Bros U,are quite likely to launch titles.
Nevertheless I'll look forward to see the official launch games, and price in the near future.

I reckon Nintendoland will ship with the console, much like Wii Sports did with the Wii? Zombie U, Assassins Creed III and hopefully Mario Bros U will be all launch titles. I'm just wondering whether Nintendo purposefully held back info on some other games they plan to release at launch? there could be some more surprises!

I've decided. Gimme Pikmin 3 on launch and I'll buy it straight away.

Certainly all the confirmed launch-window games that have already been available on other systems should be Launch Day titles, like Batman and Ninja Gaiden.
I'd like Nintendo Land to be in that llist too.
Other games 'd be willing to wait for, just so that they can be optimised to make it as good as they can, rather than rushing it so that it's available at launch. I'm looking at you, ZombiU. Don't be another Red Steel.

I think Nintendo Land, Batman, Ninja Gaiden, FIFA and Pikmin 3 will be launch games.

Kid Icarus got a very big interest that "resonated" in practically everyone, it was upon endless discussion, but that didn't become a launch game. I am not sure how they judge "what resonates" and then decide if it's better making people wait for them. Either way, I think the Wii U launch will be one of Nintendo's strongest.

The launch line -up should be pretty good.I read that Nintendo didn't want to repeat the 3DS launch. The 3DS didn't sell well until Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 came out.I imagine that Nintendo Land will be packed in like Wii Sports.I would also imagine that Super Mario Wii U will be a launch title and maybe Pikmin 3 and Game and Wario.I would love this! The only good 3DS launch games were Street Fighter and Nintendogs.2/13.Pretty rubbish.

Release a lot of games shown at e3, it was a good selection of games for everyone, i think that would be a smart move

nintendo land is already confirmed for day 1 but i would like to see game and wario, mario bros u, pikmin 3 and assassins creed 3. then i would get all of them. also it wouldn't hurt the wii u to put black ops 2 on it as well

Well New Super Mario Bros. U is a confirmed launch title , so I'm happy with that.
I would really like Scribblenauts Unlimited and Rayman Legends to be a launch title as well, but would much prefer to wait than it to be rushed.

Not necessarily... these things are decided months in advance. It also usually requires lots of collaboration with developers to ensure that it is ready.

Why would they hold back games in the first place? The launch games might be awesome but it might not be awesome for everyone. They should realease all games that are ready. It will be launched before xmas as well so people will be more likely to spend a couple quid on games! :/

They really realy should have NintendoLand bundled with the console. Their target with this seems to be to bring casual gamers to Nintendo's popular franchises but also to bring the Nintendo core gamers to a more casual setting. This can only happen if the game is bundled with the console and I don't think it has enough strength on it's own to merit a seperate purchase... even though I'm looking forward to playing it...
As for day 1? Pikmin 3 is a must! They've made us wait too <insert appropriate swearword here> long for it!

I reckon Mario bros u, nintendo land and pikmin 3 will be Nintendos launch titles. Darksiders was confirmed as a launch title a whike ago and if Dragon quest X is going to be on wii as well as wiiu it will have to come out either on launch day, or close to it because the wii's gonna die not long after. Hopefully we'll see Assassins creed at launch and 1 of the thousands of racing games announced for wiiu. Also I'd like to see the wiiu's eshop be up on launch day with at least 15 titles to download
