Yoshi's Cookie Review

Biscuit matching puzzle action from Nimtendo's dino hero...

It's time for another slice of puzzling action on the Virtual Console. This time it's courtesy of Yoshi's Cookie, a NES game that was one of the last Nintendo-published games released on the console.

If you've ever played Tetris DS then the layout and music in Yoshi's Cookie will already be familiar to you as the Puzzle Mode was a tribute this NES game. The gameplay, however, is very different.

This puzzler is laid out in a similar way to Tetris, Dr Mario and the like, except here there's a big square block made of cookies. You have to slide the rows and columns to create lines of matching cookies, at which point they disappear. Naturally, more cookies are added to the block, meaning you have to stay on top of things to stop them filling the screen.

Yoshi's Cookie is a decent enough little puzzler and you could do a lot worse for 500 Wii Points. However, with the likes of Dr Mario coming to Wii Software soon it may be worth holding on for that, since it'll offer better puzzling action...

Erm.... You spelt Nintendo wrong. You spelt it so it was "Nimtendo".

Actually, I prefer Yoshi's Cookie to Dr. Mario. Admittedly, I've only ever played the 'Dr. Wario' version in Wario Ware, but it wasn't enough to get me into the proper game. But I own YC for the NES and love it to bits! Yoshi!
