Gearbox President Randy Pitchford praises Wii U's unique capabilities

The Wii U Gamepad is "the best controller Nintendo has ever given us"

Speaking in an interview with Joystiq, the President of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford has discussed a huge amount of details about his company's upcoming game, Aliens: Colonial Marines. More importantly, when asked about the Wii U version, Pitchford revealed why his team is so excited for this release in particular.

Pitchford explained, "This is the best controller Nintendo's ever made for making an FPS. This is the best controller Nintendo has ever given us for playing hardcore games." While we know that the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines will have a lot to offer, Pitchford stated that Wii U is "perfect for Aliens".

He also complimented Nintendo's commitment to the touch-screen cause. Pitchford explained, "With the Wii U they (Nintendo) committed themselves to this promise. So the link is direct, fast and immediate. Things like SmartGlass and Vita, they appreciate the value of the promise so they're making the promise. But they're not in with such commitment".

With similar praise from Ubisoft earlier this year, it's clear that the Wii U's innovation has changed the ways developers are thinking about their games. Aliens: Colonial Marines is slated for release on Wii U in 2013.

again this trailer has been on the ps3 store month's ago , it's stunning in hd , gotta love the sound of the motion tracker , there's also a online mode called escape - one team are the marine's and they have to escape and the other team are the alien's and have to stop them - then when the match is over u swap side's to see if u can better each other's score , have seen about 3 different alien type's so far with different abilitie's ranging from close combat to long range combat , should be amazing with the game-pad , happy day's

Well the Metroid games did take inspiration from the Alien films, so it's not surprising that there would still be some similarities. Although wyou wouldn't catch Samus being such a potty-mouth.

This makes me hope that Disney will give these developers the Star Wars franchise to make games for, seeing as they own LucasFilm and just announced Episodes VII, VIII and IX.
