Wii U eShop is really exciting, say ex-Rare staff

Nyamyam says digital store is very indie-friendly

Nyamyam Studio. an independent developer set up by ex-Rare staff members Jennifer Schneidereit and Phil Tossell, are excited about Nintendo's plans for the Wii U eShop.

Very little has been said about the Wii U eShop but, according to Nyamyam, it's going to be a good digital store for the smaller developers.

The studio tweeted: "Chatted with Nintendo Europe today. Really excited about Nintendo's plans for the digital WiiU store. Very indie/small dev friendly."

Nyamyam are currently working on Tengami, an adventure game that takes place inside a pop-up-book. Many Nintendo fans will be looking forward to seeing their first Wii U eShop game simply because Phil Tossell worked on games such as Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox Adventures.

We're looking forward to seeing what the Wii U eShop looks like and how much the games will be to download. What is the maximum you'd be prepared to pay for an indie game on the eShop?

I would say how the mighty have fallen, but I'd rather swallow razor blades. Too much pride in the industry we once had. This is promising and encouraging news as it shows Nintendo's more serious side to catering for the indie companies.

Then again, given how the Japanese developers (both established and indie) are backing Nintendo by the masses, this isn't a massive surprise, but clearly a step in the right direction. We can expect to see good things in the future.

I really hope they look towards and take influence from Steam for both pricing of games and the sheer range that's available. Also for their sales too, but I seriously don't think that last one will happen!
