Shantae, the excellent DSiWare platformer, will be making a return on the 3DS eShop with Shantae And The Pirate's Curse. Developed by Mighty Switch Force team Wayforward, the first Shantae game was originally released for Game Boy Color in 2002.
It was a platformer starring half-genie Shantae and when a gang of pirates, led by the sinister Risky Boots, attacked Shantae's home town town and stole a prototype steam engine from the town's resident Relic Hunter, she had to give chase.
Shantae And The Pirates Curse finds our heroine having to team up with old enemy Risky Boots in a bid to retrieve her magic which has been taken by Risky's old mates the Tinkerbats, resulting in them becoming powerful enough to overthrow Risky and attempt to revive the Pirate King, Risky's old mentor.
Nintendo Power compares Shantae to Metroid as you'll be exploring a "nonlinear 2D world," acquiring special pirate gear to help you learn how to use new weapons. Bone Daggers enable you to throw daggers at long range while the Flintlock Pistol can be used to shoot enemies and switches.
You can also use a scimitar to slice through obstacles and foes, a block smashing cannon, protect yourself with a breastplate, run across water thanks to some boots, and glide great distances with a hat.
Finally, an anchor can be used as a grappling hook while remotely detonated mines destroy barricades. Weapins and items such as these can be uograded at the pirate shop.
That's all the info for now but fans will be hoping that this is one of the best 3DS eShop games.
