The worst DS games of all time

What's the worst DS game you've ever played?

Want to know how to make a bad DS game? Take a well known TV show or film and turn it into a handheld game. Judging by this list of the worst DS games of all time, that's pretty much the route to making a stinker.

Of course, the DS has been an amazing handheld console, home to some of the best games we've played in the last seven years. From Animal Crossing: Wild World to Pokemon Black and White 2 and The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, there have been some incredible games on Nintendo's nest-selling console of all time, but we celebrated the best DS games last week. Now it's time to turn to the dark side and discover the worst DS games we've ever had the misfortune to play.

10. Tenchu: Dark Secret

What is it? Tenchu: Dark Secret is a stealth game and if you've played the highly regarded PlayStation original, youll know its one of the coolest and most challenging stealth games ever. On the DS, the gameplay has been stripped down so far that the stealth elements have been lost.

What we said: As stealthy as a herd of stampeding elephants. This is not real Tenchu. This is a botched excuse for a stealth game whose only achievement is bringing a decent series name into disrepute. This really should have been so much better.

No "Imagine Babyz" or any games involving "Petz" or babysitting?

    List is invalid.

    D or No D wasn't that bad...

Where is Sprung the Dating game?

  4. imbusydoctorwho Thursday 8th Nov 2012 at 14:34

I've got Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Chest,is actually a pretty decent game.
Yeah it was a bit repetitive, and a bit short, but nevertheless I quite enjoyed it.
    I'd give it 55%

    4% That is... unbelievable.

It's some 44% more than Imagine Babyz deserves.

  8. deKay Thursday 8th Nov 2012 at 16:31

I could play that all day.

  10. craigyb Thursday 8th Nov 2012 at 16:41

    what about lego battles?

This atrocious effort sees you playing as a trainee female journalist who has to deal with sexist co-workers ("you really are quite insolent, darling, but I like a woman with a bit of character") while doing some morally vile things (like dressing up as a senile woman's son in order to get information from her). It's unintuitive, it's offensive and the writing is abysmal.

Still better than News Corperation. Satire.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Jimmy Carr's fat digitized face appears as a villian in Alex Rider. Although I'm not sure it had anything to do with tax. Double satire.

    what about my fireplace?

    1) This is only retail games, not downloads.
    2) It's not even on DS

4% for Deal or no Deal? That's unfair. I played it and quite enjoyed it.

  13. KirbyKoolAid Thursday 8th Nov 2012 at 17:49

I own Stormbreaker. The only good thing about it was the snooker. You couldn't even finish the game. It just replayed the last mission.

I'd never be so naive as to fall for these in the first place.

As for the worst DS game Iv'e played, guess it would be Lego Star Wars II, although that wasn't by personal choice.

My friend owns the Deal or no Deal game and he says he really enjoys it. He has never had a good taste in games...

despite its awfulness deal or no deal still managed to score twice as much as discolight :D

Sprung, Ping Pals, the countless Z games all spring to mind as hideous tie-ins worth no more than 10-15%

Ping Pals in particular is the most pointless game ever made for the DS, essentially having made people pay 20 for a Pictochat clone with an offensively bad interface.

Once I saw a DS game which was literally a collection of The Sun crosswords. Now that had to be awful.

  19. nintenu Friday 9th Nov 2012 at 13:03

Need for Speed "series" ...except underground 2, that was okay.

  20. toffeeman30 Friday 9th Nov 2012 at 13:12

so many games missing from the list as proved by the comments above

  21. funmaker11 Friday 9th Nov 2012 at 18:34

Never played any of these games. But from all the DS games I owned, my absolute bad game is Peter Jackson's King Kong... (you might be thinking, why do I own this, well, I didn't personally buy it but I believe it costed 99p?) I kind of expected it to be on the list. LOL

  22. TheNessInator Friday 9th Nov 2012 at 20:30

    Worst DS game?
Anything with the words "imagine" or "petz"

  23. D Gamer Friday 9th Nov 2012 at 20:50

Galactic Football was an amazing anime though, I remember it being class.

It was one of the two games that came with my DS. It stands as on of the only two games that I have traded in for any real money (I did a load of PS2 games at the same time). The other was a very difficult and hideous PS2 game that came with my PS2. I haven't had much luck with free games.

"High Laurie" ... I know he like his meds but I'm pretty sure his name is Hugh...

  26. ZodiacXYZ Sunday 11th Nov 2012 at 17:49

Say what you want about the Deal or No Deal game, but I hope you're not poking fun at that brilliantly charming piece of BBC early-evening quiz show entertainment known as 'Pointless'. Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman certainly do not deserve to be slandered in the same light as anything connected to that random, nonstrategic Noel Edmund affair. *casual tea sip*

Really?! I loved lego battles so much I played for over 8 months. To be honest, I have never played a better real-time strategy game.

  28. widdlersbrew Monday 4th Mar 2013 at 13:54

I was expecting to see My Fireplace.

  29. AQWorlds Monday 2nd Sep 2013 at 08:45

The only DS game I had on there was Pirates of the Caribbean: DMC and it's the only one I have lost, probably because it wasn't that good I didn't look after it properly.
