Wii U Panorama View coming in 2013

Satoru Iawta confirms that the app will be on the way next year

Nintendo has confirmed that Wii U Panorama View will be released through the Wii U eShop in Spring 2013 in Japan and the UK

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata revealed that the Wii U app which takes you on a guided tour of famous landmarks on the Wii U GamePad, will be released next year. A demo version will appear in the Wii U eShop in Europe before more videos are made available.

Using Wii U Panorama view, you can take a virtual ride on a Lomndon bus, moving the GamePad 360 degrees to get views of the sights. You can also go on a virtual flight in a glider and visit carnival in Brazil.

Iwata also announced a Google Maps app via Wii U.

I tried the Panorama View at the Wii U Showcase at the London Expo, and if I'm honest I wasn't that fussed. While I love the idea of being able to move the GamePad to view a 360-degree scene, the on-rails tour element wasn't particularly interesting.
I personally think that a better example of the same technology is in 3D game worlds, just like when you look and and aim weapons with the gyroscope in Ocarina of Time 3D on the 3DS.

No doubt it will be a muddy low resolution mess, I wouldn't dare expect HD content from Nintendo in 2013.
