Wii U arrives in Japan - pictures from the launch

Now everyone has a Wii U

In what has become a familiar sight around the world over the past month, Nintendo fans queued outside game stores to get their hands on Wii U as the console launched at the weekend in Japan.

However, judging by these pictures, there was no mad rush to be the first person in the country to get their hands on Nintendo's new console. While there were plenty of people queuing, there's no pictures of anyone camping outside games stores and you certainly can't see anyone holding their Wii U aloft as it it were the Triforce itself.

Instead, fans just seemed happy to get their hands on the new console and games such as New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land and Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate. Probably because it wasn't midnight and they could go home and play games all day!

So that means Wii U has now launched in America, Europe and Japan. Look out for some amazing Miiverse pictures from Japan!

So you're saying the Japanese launch was during the day, not at midnight like in the west?

I know. Strangely Japan got it three weeks after America and a week after us.

Love that photo of the small child struggling to reach over to the cashier.

I knew they got it last... But why is that so? Doesn't make much sense...

So Japan didn't go crazy over the release? From a sales perspective, this is bad news...

The sales figures haven't been released yet, and ONM didn't say that there weren't that many people, they just said that the people weren't in such a mad rush. Not nesicarily a bad thing.
