Dragon Quest X celebrates Christmas!

Dress up in a Santa suit

This is how Dragon Quest X does Christmas. You can't just go to your local garden centre to get hold of a tree and some baubles. No, you have to battle monsters.

Yes, Square-Enix are celebrating the festive season by holding an event called When You Wish Upon a Star! The Great Festival On A Holy Night. There's a big Christmas tree at this festival but you have to fight monsters to earn Ornaments of Light, which you can give to the tree. Players have to work together to light up the tree.

The Christmas spirit doesn't end there. You can also get hold of a Santa suit and other festive gear from stores.

Dragon Quest X is out now on Wii in Japan. There is no word of a UK release date.

I really hope this comes to the UK. Loved playing IX and V on DS and would love to have a new DQ game to play on Wii U

Looks great love holdiay themed events. This game i'll be getting for sure on Wii U once it's out but i'm still a little confused is this an MMO dragon quest or plays just like the other games in the series? I know the theme is playing online with others but i just don't like the idea of a sub when i could be playing this games lots.

For anyone confused, Dragon Quest X is an MMO for the Wii and Wii U. It is possible to play through the story alone but it still requires being online and you still have to pay the monthly subscription fee. Square has announced no plans for a western release and the chances of it ever happening are extremely slim.

This game is unlikely to work as a subscription MMO outside of Japan. There are no real MMO features people expect from modern MMO's and it is extremely outdated. Personally I'd still play it as I'm sure some of you would but I believe we are to few for Square to ever risk releasing it here.
