Brand new Pokemon RPG for the 3DS!!!

This looks so Amazing! X and Y is maybe a strangeist of the pokemon names (no longer named after colours or stones, but cells???)

So many great games this year for 3DS! :D

Well that was interesting. Looking forward to it now. I guessing the Pokemon X/Y is referring to male and female? maybe.

I watched the vid in English. The games are getting a worldwide release in October.

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
    GEN 6!

  12. RainbowGazelle Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:17

They didn't make it clear whether this is a whole new generation in a new region, or just a few new Pokemon to be added in.

  13. BanksLad Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:18

I can't believe we're already getting a brand new generation, I'm only just grinding through the national Pokedex on B/W2. Hats off to Nintendo for keeping it up their sleeve and a worldwide release date too, very impressive. Fire starter looks pretty good. And I wonder if 'X' and 'Y' has anything to do with gender, more alternate forms like Jellicent or the good ol' Nidoran's from Gen I! Let the speculation begin.

  14. Kirby8 Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:18

Short. Sweet. BUT AMAZING!!!!!!
I knew they were going to announce Gen VI. Can't believe they are so far along with the games! They look amazing. If I'm correct, they switched to 3D models from Sprite based. While I've always loved sprite-based and would prefer it to stay but advance, I have to say the 3D models looked great.

  15. Commandervideo Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:18

That was AWESOME! GEN 6! Proved everyone wrong.

Didn't expect the graphics to be cellshaded, almost Dragon quest 9&10 look to it. It kinda works, especially for the pokemon themselves. The environments look abit meh though and the starters keep getting worse and worse.
It's still gunna be sick though.

  16. BanksLad Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:19

I also wonder if Ruby/Sapphire will be remade with this engine too?

  17. Jarmez Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:20

Gen VI games, on 3DS, as expected from this much hype. You know what this means right...? Remakes on 3DS, with gen VI engine. I can see it now.

  18. Commandervideo Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:21

Maybe X and Y refers to DNA :?

well what do you know it wasnt to early

on a more serious note YAHOOOOOOOOOOO

cant wait till october some whacky looking starters and awesome legendarys

also first grass starter that isnt a reptile

  21. vix_chan Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:25

I'm just glad we are getting a proper Pokémon game for the 3DS.
The battles look amazing, no more sprites, which may be sad for some, but I am glad they have taken the leap (finally)

I know it is a long way off, but I do wish they announced more about the Wi-Fi features . I am very sure that there is going to be allot to do, so I am very excited.

Question is, do I just get 1 version (most likely Y for me) or get both (as I do have a couple of spare 3DSs hanging around)

Ahhh, I am so buzzing right now, this is what I have been waiting for the 3DS for a long time XD

  22. onmsam Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:25

this is absolutely amazing and the 3ds sales this year in japan will be immense. :D :o

  23. Kirby8 Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:28

I didn't watch the feed here, but watched the UK one. ONM you should have put the link to the Nintendo UK direct, the same one on the Nintendo UK website. The feed was awesome. Was constantly smiling during the whole history...so much love. And was constantly open mouthed in shock and awe when the announced it! Oh god, I'm so excited for October!! SO EXCITED!!! I want more info! AHHHH!! Fire starter for me...but then that was a given because I always use FIRE!

They didn't make it clear whether this is a whole new generation in a new region, or just a few new Pokemon to be added in.

It looked like a whole new region to me. Wonder if it's in a "whole new place" again, so starting back at Route 1, or whether it will carry on after the numbering of Unova. Wonder what the region will be called. SO MANY QUESTIONS!

I'm thinking X any Y are to do with genders and DNA. It could be part of the story. Could have another DNA Pokémon. Those two legendary Pokémon looked amazing.

    Going to pre order ASAP!

  24. silver2010 Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:30

FANTASTIC water or fire starter for me...will be preordered the minute shop to put them up!

  25. vix_chan Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:31

this is absolutely amazing and the 3ds sales this year in japan will be immense. :D :o

I think this game will make the 3DS sales do well Worldwide (As well as the soon to come out Animal Crossing)

This has to be the best year to get a 3DS if you don’t have one.

(My nephew is going to be so psyched when I tell him)

  26. Nintendo4Ever Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:33

I've just created an account because of this (no hate messages please I already regret for not becoming a member sooner :( ).
This is what I've been waiting for for what seems like forever and it has just made my day. The starters still look kind of weird (especially the frog) but then again there are weird animals in real life so I'm not complaining (it will probably be my starter anyway <3 water types!) I can't wait until October, it's going to be the best month ever!!!

2013= The Year of the 3DS

  27. shy guy 64 Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:33

could be based on europe saw something that looked like the efiel tower

  28. Nintendo4Ever Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:39

could be based on europe saw something that looked like the efiel tower

I can't see why not, they based Gen 5 on America so why not make Gen 6 based on Europe? That would make it even better Europe Rules!

  29. onmsam Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:41

i think the legendary Pokemon are the shapes of the X and Y so that could be what x and y mean.

  30. BanksLad Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:42

Pikachu started the announcement on top of the Eiffel Tower too! It looks quite Parisian. At least you know what legends you'll get with each version, the big 'Y' dragon is a bit of a give away. Unless they do a sneaky swap B/W style. I always start with Water but he's my least favourite looking so far-it's all about the final evolution though, could be a BEAST.

I'm still a bit shocked we're getting a new generation though, sort of makes me wonder whether I should continue playing B/W2 if I'm just going to have to fill up a whole new Pokedex again.

  31. lui_gui Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:42

They didn't make it clear whether this is a whole new generation in a new region, or just a few new Pokemon to be added in.

Presumably a whole new world with a whole new world of Pokemon but, fairly, they don't want to show us all of the new ones just yet. Though they seem to have chosen the best, with Psyduck and Dragonite in there. The starters are lookin okay, really liking that stag legendary too though. More interesting than the recent bout of them.

Overall, actually getting fairly excited about this, might be one of the few games I buy this year.

I watched Pokémon Direct on ZephyrSonic's YouTube channel! When I saw the trailer for Pokémon X and Y, I got so freaking happy! XD It looks really darn cool! :D The starters look pretty good and I like how the new region seems to be based on Europe (note the Eiffel Tower-like structure at 0:26 of this trailer).

I eagerly await more news on X and Y! ^^

  34. CDS Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:45

    This is absolutely AMAZING!
What I've always wanted from a Pokemon game. Me and my friend watched the japanese version by mistake first, but then found this and was amazed all over again.
    Cannot wait until October.

  35. vix_chan Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:45

could be based on europe saw something that looked like the efiel tower

In Tokyo they have Tokyo Tower which is a bit of a symbol of Japan (red and white tower) so maybe that also.

But then again, I would love this new Pokémon game to show spots (or at least similarities) of the whole world (Europe, Japan and America as well as other countries around the globe)

  36. alexkinch Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:48

Pokemon z out next year ;)

  37. Nintendo4Ever Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:51

I also wonder if Ruby/Sapphire will be remade with this engine too?

Don't say that! You'll get even more stupidly excited than I am knowing there's going to be a 3D Gen 6 POKEMON game by October!!!

  38. deKay Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 11:52

    ZOMBIE POKEMON

  39. Nintendo4Ever Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 12:03

I forgot to mention too, I got so nostalgic watching that timeline of all the games at the beginning, I can't believe just how far Pokemon has gone, now we're getting a full 3D game with 3D models and actual movement during attacks (based on the Patrat battle).

Can't wait! Bring on October!! :D

  40. cthesupergenius Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 12:19

I hope they're not ruby and sapphire - when the game goes 3d, you kind of want it to be a new generation

  41. deKay Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 12:20

Oooh, a reason to be excited about Pokemon again! I keep meaning to buy Pearl/Diamond/Black/White/Black2/White2 but after getting slightly bored towards the end of Ruby and never finishing it, I've waited for a game to get me back into the series properly. Anyway I've only wanted an actual fully 3D rendered Pokemon game like this since... well, the original Gold/Silver on GBC (and that's a long time waiting!).

What is interesting is how some of the footage looked great, and some looked like it was running off DS hardware. Gamefreak do have a long history of making their Pokemon games look graphically a generation behind on the latest hardware. Saying that, the areas I'm on about that look naff seem to mainly be the 'Overworld' sections as opposed to the Towns/Cities/Dungeons/Caves/Forests, so that's ok as it's fairly normal for RPG's anyway. Besides, the battles look immense.

Can't wait to turn the 3D slider upwards in October and be sucked into the world of Pokemon again. =)

  44. cthesupergenius Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 12:34

    dude. he was rollerblading

  45. PeterR Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 13:12

i figured it was referring to x/y axis rather than chromosomes though i guess it could be that. also that would be relevant to 3d naming it after dimensions especially if a third game is released

  46. PeterR Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 13:16

oh and forgot to express my excitement. new pokemon generation!!! cant wait! looks so good. anyone know what starter they want?

  47. deKay Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 13:41

oh and forgot to express my excitement. new pokemon generation!!! cant wait! looks so good. anyone know what starter they want?

Fennekin, obviously. It's the only sensible choice.

I want X & Y for my birthday, lucky it's in October so great all round for me

  49. ThePokekid78 Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 17:17

I want X & Y for my birthday, lucky it's in October so great all round for me

Same here bro, except...mine's on the 1st, so...sucks to be me :(

Anyway, I won't repeat what I've said in other articles (rant about horridness of starters/praised legendaries), but the same release day worldwide is such good news. No more will the new games get spoiled through ROMS!

Plus it means the Japanese don't have months before us to build their online teams, so that when the puny Western world get their frail hands on the games we aren't obliterated by the force of Japanese teams that have been many months in preparation!

GameFreak, you've let me down before, but here is some great news. Well done.

    (Apart from the starters.)

  50. inuyashaDS Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 17:29

Waaaaah! talking Pikachu is so cute! Can't wait till October! But are they sure they can release one game, in 4 different countries, fully translated in a few months?

  51. CDS Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 17:35

You could probably guarantee that it has been in development for at least a year or more already.

  52. deKay Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 20:40

Waaaaah! talking Pikachu is so cute! Can't wait till October! But are they sure they can release one game, in 4 different countries, fully translated in a few months?

Who says they didn't complete the game two years ago and have spent the last two years translating it?

  53. CDS Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 21:21

So what you're stating is that Generation 6 was being made at the same time as Generation 5?
I'd say they started after Black/White were released in Japan, and have had the workforce split in half since.

  54. BanksLad Tuesday 8th Jan 2013 at 22:55

Ha! Sorry dude. It is very exciting. Can't believe the amount of speculation there already is!

So what you're stating is that Generation 6 was being made at the same time as Generation 5?

There is no reason why this can't be the case. Works for Call of Duty and FIFA.
