Fractured Soul, a platformer from Endgame studios, is the highlight of this week's 3DS eShop games. It's joined in the eShop by NES game Blaster Master, DSiWare game Kung Fu Dragon and Wii Virtual Console title Ninja Master's Haoh-Ninpo-Cho.
Fractured Soul (3DS: Endgame studios, £7.19) is an old-school platformer with a modern twist as the action takes place across two screens. Originally developed for DS, it has been described as 'Mega Man tough' as you run, jump and blast enemies across the two screens. Here's a trailer:
Blaster Master (3DS: Sunsoft, £4.49) was originally released for NES in 1991. The later Game Boy Color version is already available on the eShop and the original is very similar - you play an ordinary kid called Jason, who, on his quest to save the Earth, battles radioactive monsters on foot or behind the wheel of Sophia the 3rd, a heavily armed multi-purpose vehicle. There are eight areas to battle through (which are viewed from side-scrolling and top-down perspectives sections) and, as you progress, you can upgrade Sophia's arsenal to hover or drive up walls. Here's a video:
Kung Fu Dragon (3DS or DSi: Agetec, £1.79 or 200 Points) sees you playing as one of three chosen warriors who faces a quest to become the next Kung Fu Dragon. Your training sees you climbing up an immense waterfall by performing a series of jumps. You can increase your score by climbing higher up the waterfall by jumping among the various footholds that come falling down. You'll also have to watch out for the enemies that block your way, but you can defeat them by jumping on them as you climb.
Ninja Master's Haoh-Ninpo-Cho (Wii: Enterprise, 900 Points) is another old school fighting game that was originally released for NeoGeo in 1996. Set in the fictional land of "Zipangu", you can choose from 10 different ninjas and warriors. Each character has access to a wide variety of weapons and their Super Attacks change depending on whether they are armed or unarmed. There are also many deadly techniques to learn such as Super Death Blow, Ultimate Super Mode, Dark Super Power and Dark Combo. Here's a video:
