Pit's latest adventure soars to victory in the ONM awards

Kid Icarus: Uprising has won the ONM 2012 Game of the Year Award, beating competitors such as ZombiU and and Pokemon Black and White 2.

Kid Icarus: Uprising beat all comers at the Official Nintendo Magazine Game of the Year awards to be named the magazine's Game of the Year 2012. The award, as voted for by readers of ONM, was conferred upon the game for its outstanding campaign and engaging online multiplayer mode.

Uprising, a sequel to 1991's Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, takes Pit on a journey to battle the evil Medusa, Queen of Darkness. Thankfully, he's got Palutena, Goddess of Light on his side, as well as newfound powers of flight. The game was released in March last year and earned 91% from ONM- with this latest award confirming that Pit's newest outing was well worth the 20-year wait.

i'm still on the first level. not because i suck at it. just because i want to do it over and over again to try harder. almost beat level 9 intensity! which, for me, is an acheivement and a half. I suck at multiplayer though. some things never change. still glad it won though..

Uprising deserved to win. Nintendo should give Pit a bit more TLC. (No, not Terminal Lung Cancer.)

If what the games' director says is anything to go by, I'm afraid they have. :(

Justly deserved, it's by far Nintendo's best game this year. Really amazing stuff.

Sakurai was just referring to himself making a new one, not Nintendo. I don't think Nintendo are going to ignore Pit completely. He'll make a big return in Smash Bros. after all. But Kid Icarus: Uprising was like three games in one, anyway, so I don't feel like he's been forgotten.

Star Fox and F-Zero on the other hand...

Won it for me for it's hilariously cheesy and at times self-mocking dialogue. :)

Felt Kid Icarus Uprising 100% deserves it. Best 3DS game I've had the pleasure of playing, looks really good, its very funny, yes the controls are awkward, but nothings perfect. Well done everyone who voted (including me), my faith in humanity is restored

well deserved, possibly my favorite non zelda game ever

Best Nintendo game anyway. Though, thats not saying much, I feel there was a drought of good Nintendo games this year... we have a Pokemon Game for the DS launch, another New Super Mario Bros and a lackluster Paper Mario. Kid Icarus was really the only thing that offered anything fresh, and it was a joy to play.

My best game of the year would have gone to Mass Effect 3.
