About time too. Hope its a biggie. Zelda or Metroid would be great. Would love to see a side scrolling Metroid on 3ds too. Super Metroid still my fave in the series.

I wonder how many 'new' games? Or will it just be release dates for ones we know of already? Like pikmin, wii fit u, wonderful 101. Can't see nothing major although a wii u luigi's mansion would not surprise me with the amount of games that seem to be taking up the idea of handheld and console release lately or even a wii sports u.

I'm actually hoping for some interesting new e shop games and maybe some old ones like meatboy being announced for it.

Of course the trouble with saying new games is that people immediately expect big revelations. It could indeed mean games that have yet to be released. Still, if Nintendo were to show off a new trailer for, say Bayonetta 2, you wouldn't be disappointed. Not saying they will of course because I know as much as you do about this broadcast. Nothing!

I was very wrong about the Pokemon prediction, but I'm going to remain skeptical about this one. We know it's focus is Wii U "titles" and "services" so we can't expect a ton of games.

I bet they'll talk about upcoming games such as Lego City Stories, Pikmin etc. Stuff we already know about. I think they'll try and make a big announcement out of Resident Evil Revelations, but unfortunately we heard about that just yesterday...

However, I don't think it's out of the question for them to talk about Bayonetta 2, they may even go as far as to show us Retro Studios' game, which I'm guessing is Starfox. I'd bet that we won't hear about those titles, though.

    That's my prediction.

    it should be interesting

Whatever happened to that Yoshi game that was supposed to be developed by Good Feel? Was it cancelled? Because I can remember seeing a notification about it on Super Mario Wiki. Or was it just a rumour?

  7. Cidiyance Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 11:46

I hope they annouce an Update to the 3DS that takes away Friend codes completely and allows you to put your NNID in there. Ether that or annouce that Mortal Kombat is coming for WiiU.

  8. Nintendo4Ever Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 11:55

I want to see some news on the new Super Smash Bros game, haven't seen any for a while. Just have to wait and see though.

  9. MartinIsAwesome Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 11:57

I'm assuming that Resident Evil Revelations will be shown, but other than that I cant think of what they will be showcasing. But I will predict that no new Mario, Zelda or Smash Bross game will be mentioned.

Still, you have to assume it's quite big. After all, if it was just an update I would assume that Satoru Shibata would be presenting it. The fact that it's the Top-Dog Iwata hints at something more interesting.

could nintendo not stream it on a live youtube feed so it can be watched on wiiU?

  11. Murphy11 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 12:12

Maybe we will hear about Nintendo TVii?

  12. 5OUNDWAVE Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 12:41

    THIS. So much this.

  14. toffeeman30 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 13:15

probably end up talking about iwatas antics rather than the games

    nice one, thank you

  17. ACRID Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:12

So you have to re-buy virtual console games that you already purchased on Wii and transferred to Wii U. Nothing short of disgusting.

  18. MiiLoveWii Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:18

Lego City & Monster Hunter will be released in the UK in March.

  19. alexjones94 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:25

3D Mario & Mario Kart playable at E3! And Smash Bros screens!

  20. MiiLoveWii Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:26

The new Yoshi's game has been announced!

  21. Bigtime Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:28

So this is a disappointing watch.

"NintendoDirect will focus on new games". Speaks about Miiverse for 15 minutes and tells us new game info will come at E3. And I'm sure that fire Emblem thing would be interesting if I was Japanese.

  22. Medevac Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:32

    Wind Waker HD.

    God exists!

    :D :D :D

So 2 new Zelda games for Wii U. Wind Waker for the Wii U will have a better gaming experience and you'll be able to play on TV or on the gamepad.

This is MORE than I expected, I totally forgive them for taking longer with the new title. Well done Nintendo 8)

  23. ACRID Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:33

Wind Waker HD! Best news ever!

We have new 3D Mario, a new Zelda, a remake of Wind Waker, a Yoshi game, a Fire Emblem crossover and new details for already announced games. What more do you want?!

  25. Cidiyance Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:36

Hey ho, a new HD Zelda game. Tetra and Toon Link look more shiny. Should be interesting.

  26. MartinIsAwesome Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:37

But I will predict that no new Mario, Zelda or Smash Bross game will be mentioned.

    Shut up, Martin.

  27. Loopydoodle Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:38

 WOW :D New Wind Waker hooray! Lego City only 2 months and 5 days away! Awesome!

  28. JoeOdranDoran Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:38

All the information about the upcoming updates to the Wii U in general sounded great. I'm glad Ninty are looking at the service they provide, and are thinking about how to improve it.

I'm very pleased to hear about the Virtual Console coming soon too! Shame about no Gamecube announcement, but I'm glad the VC is coming so soon! (right now, sort of!)

Personally, I was hoping for a Metroid announcement, but I'm still glad they mentioned the new Mario game (here's hoping it'll be a more interesting addition than NSMB) and that they mentioned the Zelda game too, is nice, even if there was no footage.

An HD Windwaker, however? Now that caught me by surprise! Sounds great. Should keep Zelda fans busy until the new one!

And now I'm off to download Balloon Fight!!

I spoke before the Wind Waker thing. That was excellent.

The Yoshi game looked cool but it was till just a photo or two. I was hoping instead of mentioning the games we all knew were coming like Mario Kart, Mario WiiU and Smash Brothers we would at least get some sort of information on it instead of saying guess what, we will tell you in June. I have never played Fire Emblem and have never heard of the thing its crossing over with so it didnt phase me.

  30. mario_boi Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:40

My faith in Nintendo has been restored.
Pikmin 3, Windwaker HD, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Bayonnetta 2, Yoshi (epic yarn style), Wonderful 101......
    Just WOW!

  31. shy guy 64 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:41

the yoshi games looks amazing and i dont think i can say no to a wind waker remake

  32. mario_boi Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:42

E3 has already been won for this year. Congratulations Nintendo.

  33. Smouvy Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:44

Yoshi does sound like it could work extremely well as an Epic Yarn title. Yoshi games, as opposed to Kirby games, tend to minimalise violence, so Yoshi's Epic Yarn could really work well! :D

  34. AtomAtton Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:45

Whatever happened to that Yoshi game that was supposed to be developed by Good Feel? Was it cancelled? Because I can remember seeing a notification about it on Super Mario Wiki. Or was it just a rumour?

    Oh my god I'm psychic!

  35. Nintendo4Ever Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 14:46

Wind Waker HD... New Zelda... rethinking constructs of Zelda... Pikmin Photographers... Yoshi's Epic Yarn... Fire Emblem Wii U crossover!

Nintendo can I just give you my bank details, chequebook and credit card and let you take all my student loan because it's just going to end up in your pockets anyway!?

Can't believe Wind Waker HD, I never got the chance to play the GameCube version, now I can either pay Ł40 for a Wii U HD remake or pay Ł40+ for the GameCube version. Come on Christmas!

I wasn't planning on getting a Wii U for myself as my brother already has one but I think I might now so there's no risk of it being unavailable to play all of these great games!

I wonder what BenJ thinks of all this Zelda news?

Also, did The Wonderful 101 remind anyone else of Little Kings Story towards the end? Might be because of how they were all walking together, kinda reminded me of LKS for a minute.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I've already got the 30p VC games on my 3DS as ambassador titles, so I think I'll give the Wii U versions a miss, if I decide to run and buy a Wii U right now in anticipation!

  36. silver2010 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 15:00

Thought that was rubbish. Nothing good seems like it will be coming soon we knew a 3d mario would come we new a mario kart would come that isn't news.

Only thing that might see a release this year is the yoshi game which while looks good I fear will be too easy. Xenoblade looked good but never played one so not sure what to make of that.

Zelda, meh just don't get me interested never liked them although if they rehash it maybe it will become ok and games like pikmin n w-101 seem like taking even longer to come than 1st said. All in all a pretty dire 2012 for wii u it seems.

Thank god for pokemon on 3ds and a few download games I'm waiting for like cloudberry kingdom

  37. deKay Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 15:02

    Delivers.

  38. deKay Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 15:03

    Shut up, Martin.

Three strikes there. You're out! :D

I'm sorry, what? Nintendo announce new games for virtually all the big first party series, and a remake of what is in the eyes of many fans the best zelda ever, plus several other amazing titles, and you call it rubbish? I despair, I really do.

Because it was just brief mentions of first party games we all knew full well were coming out? I completely understand.

  41. McGovern Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 15:51

So many announcements! Today's Nintendo Direct was better than most E3s for Nintendo.

  42. TheSlenderman Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 16:43

    I need a wii u now.

  43. ThePokekid78 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 17:05

I now have several reasons to buy a Wii U, some huge announcements here!

  44. C00LI098 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 17:22

This is truly phenomenal. So many things to look forward to. Nintendo really delivered, and in an honest matter at that. I feel so much more satisfied with my Wii U purchase now. :D

  45. CDS Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 17:22

I think I'll wait until Nintendo actually delivers all this video content and pictures at E3 before I decide.
Decide on a WiiU or not.
All I needed was Mario Kart to get me interested in one. If that content delivers, I have no excuse.

  46. garydbz88 Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 17:26

I don't care what anyone thinks about this comment but NINTENDO YOU HAVE MADE MY DREAMS COME TRUE. WIND THE WAKER U OMG!!!!!!!!!......... When all these games come out the Wii u will be out of stock everywhere ROCK ON NINTENDO!

  47. adamatsu Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 19:20

ahh some lovely surprises there, i hope a few of those games are out this year, ie mario 3d, yoshi's island and the new 'X' game! and bring out a red wii u in the summer with a bigger hard drive and you sold it to me nintendo...

  48. deKay Wednesday 23rd Jan 2013 at 20:55

It's a follow up to Yoshi's Story, not Yoshi's Island!

And the X game looks like it's Xenoblade 2.

  49. Spyrolad Monday 28th Jan 2013 at 18:56

More F-Zero? Clearly not a coincidence anymore!
