New Wii U Party game uses GamePad in new ways

Two-player games to be played on on the GamePad.

A new Wii U game from the makers of Wii Party will give you all-new ways of using the Wii U GamePad. With a release date set for Summer 2013, Nintendo are hoping that it will bring everyone together to play it.

Showcasing the game during Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata said: "In this game, there are various gameplay styles. For example, one [minigame] will use the Wii U GamePad as an unusual kind of dice to play virtual board games on your TV.

"Another one will use the GamePad and Wii Remote to encourage communication between players.

"Some will not use the TV screen, they'll only use the gamepad to pit two players against each other."

It were these games that were the most interesting as two players played table football and baseball on the Wii U GamePad,

Iwata concluded: "This will continue to enhance our image of making Wii U the system that brings everyone together."

    It looks interesting, yes, but...
...I can't help but feel that it will not be as accessible as these sorts of games were on the wii. Might consider it if it comes bundled with a wii u game pad, though, which was pretty much the reason people bought the original wii party; for the wii remote that came with it.

When I saw this I thought to myself "Is... is that 'Finger Twister'?". It looked great. I also liked the little base ball and talble football game which se's the two players just using the two analogue sticks to play against eachother with just the GamePad. It reminded me of the 'Go' example from the E3 2011 promo. i'm hoping that the game will feature loads of examples of this kind of gameplay.
