Nintendo to release fan-favourite Wii U and 3DS games into 2014

Expect strong games until the end of the year and beyond

If you watched Nintendo Direct last week you'll know that there are plenty of great Wii U games to come in 2013 but the company has told fans to expect many of their favourite titles in this calendar year and beyond.

We already know that The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker Wii U will be released in autumn 2013 but Nintendo say that that strong Wii U games will keep coming into next year.

In a statement released in support of Nintendo's latest financial results, the company said: "Beginning in March and continuing through the rest of the calendar year and into 2014, Nintendo will release a cavalcade of strong, fan-favorite software titles for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. New entries in the Mario Kart, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, LEGO City, Wii Fit and Pikmin franchises will help Nintendo regain momentum for Wii U.

"Additionally, highly anticipated Nintendo 3DS games such as Luigi's Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf have the potential to be hardware drivers and bring new audiences to the platform."

Of course, Mario Kart Wii U and the new 3D Super Mario game were announced during Nintendo Direct but there is no mention of Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS, despite the news that the first screenshots for the game will be revealed at E3.

Like the sound of that. Hopefully it means we could be seeing more of games like Metroid and Donkey Kong as well. A new title in either series would do nicely on 3DS - I would even be satisfied if they were to remake a previous title in 3D :)

Yes, Nintendo, you are SO right. Animal Crossing: New Leaf will probably help 3DS sales a lot so WHY DON'T YOU STOP TALKING ABOUT IT AND JUST RELEASE IT!!!

Because it takes a really long time to localise it?

Nah, it's definitely da evil Iwata just wanting to hurt the sales of his company handheld and annoy western gamers. :|

Why don't they give us Majora's Mask 3D since the new 3DS zelda will take a long time to be released as the case is with the Wi U zelda?
Damn Nintendo,we can't wait until 2015-2016 for it!

I hope that they make a Metroid in the style of Other M. Really thought the gmae was enjoyable to play and I liked that there was a story But they could improve on Samus.

Here's hoping Nintendo release a Donkey Kong 3DS game either this year or next. Donkey Kong would be great on 3DS.

Well let's just hope that a few more games will be added to the 'actually worth playing' list. I tend to play on my laptop more than on my 3DS at the moment, because I've played the mainstream games and there just aren't that many good ones generally. Don't get me wrong, OoT was a joy to play, MK7 is good fun, 3D Land is...alright (imo), Kid Icarus is admittedly very good, and there are a few others. Here's hoping that AC is going to blow out minds; I spent months on Wild World, just because it was calming and enjoyable.

I know it isn't published by Nintendo, but I would love to see a third entry into the Lostwinds series on WiiU, I loved the first 2 on Wii... make it a little longer and add new abilities and it would be a brilliant gem, if not a killer app. In the more mainstream views, I too would love a Donkey Kong or Metroid game. Even if they simply remade Metroid 2, as it is the only 'unplayable' one, with Super Metroid being still very playable and the original having Zero Mission. even better, release the remake on 3DS and bring out a new trilogy of Primes on WiiU- keep sidescrolling for handhelds and first person for consoles!

So freaking long to localize it because Nintendo's localization teams are really slow... oh wait, wasn't Nintendo literally bragging about how good their localization teams are during the Pokemon Direct? Funny that.
