New Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate screenshots show new Nibelsnarf monster

Meet the sand beast who will eat you alive if you don't pack your Sonic Bombs

Nibelsnarf appeared in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on PSP but for Nintendo fans, the first time they will come across this sand monster is in Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate.

Capcom compare it to Monster Hunter Tri's Gobui in that both have huge mouths which they use to attempt to eat you alive.

The Nibelsnarf's strong attack sees it sucking in huge amounts of sand and spitting it all out and it will also occasionally release sand through its gills, blowing away anyone who tries to approach it from behind.

However, you can hit back with Sonic Bombs and Barrel Bombs which will help when the Nibelsnarf burrows in the desert's sandy areas.

You can battle the Nibelsnarf when Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate is released on Wii U and 3DS on 22 March.

This monster is a pain to fight, his sand attacks are v.hard to dodge. I found this harder than some of the G rank quests, dunno why I just always hated fighting him... we'll see if it's easier on Wii U.

Awful name, be ashamed of yourself, Capcom.

I didn't find him that hard. I liked the fact that you can plant bombs for him to eat, and then fish him out.

It's hard to take this name seriously. I hope it sinks in and grows on me, because it really does sound out of place. This is such a great monster to hunt too. I'm excited to see how people react to it.
