eShop games of the week: Sonic Racing, Mega Man 2 and more...

This week's 3DS downloads

There are no games coming to the Wii U eShop this week but 3DS owners can look forward to Sonic And All Stars Racing Transformed being made available to download alongside Mega Man 2, one of the hardest platformers ever.

You can also download a Fractured Soul demo and Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D is coming to the 3DS eShop at the reduced price of £8.99.

Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D (3DS: Zordix, £8.99) puts you in the rubber boots of a rookie fireman as you put our fires by aiming jets of water, but you'll also be swinging axes and prising open doors on your way to becoming a real hero.

Sonic And All Stars Racing Transformed (3DS: Sega, £29.99) is the 3DS version of Sonic's Wii U racer that was released earlier this year. Which means you can pick a famous Sega face (or a Nascar driver) and drive your vehicle - which can transform into a boat or plane - around tracks based on famous Sega worlds. Can it beat Mario Kart 7? Find out this week?

Mega Man 2 (3DS: Capcom, £4.49) is the classic NES version of the tough platformer. This has already been released through the Wii Virtual Console and is coming to 3DS this week to show New Super Mario Bros 2 fans what a really challenging platformer is. Dr. Light's super-robot, Mega Man succeeded in defeating the nefarious Dr. Wily in the first game but the planet's peace is broken when Wily returns with a new army of Robot Masters to challenge our hero.

Fractured Soul demo (3DS: Endgame studios, free) is the demo version of the recently released platformer that has you running, jumping and blasting enemies across the two screens.

Sengoku 2 (Wii: D4, 900 Points) is yet another NeoGeo fighting game for the Wii Virtual Console. Originally released in 1995, this side-scrolling beat 'em up sees you playing as warriors who have been summoned by a sorceress princess to take down a dark lord. You can transform your characters, switching between the Ninja, Tengu and Ninja Dog freely right from the beginning.

Finally, we have the second The Beet Party short video. Called The Beet Party: Jurassic Fridge (3DS: Redrover, 89p) is another two-minute 3D video aimed at four to six year olds which follows the adventures of the five coolest beets around as they explore, experiment, celebrate and communicate with beat-boxing sounds when something new arrives in their fridge.

That's all this week. Are you going to download any of this week's games?

Well, I'm never one to turn down a free demo, so that's at the top of my list.
I love Mega Man 2. It's is my favourite Mega Man game (that I've played), but it's about a pound more that it costs on the Wii virtual console. I suppose you get the privilege of taking it will you, but still I don't think I need it that badly.

Just the demo, but who knows it may make me download the full game.

Really interested in trying SAASRT on 3DS. Want to see how it plays compared to the Wii U / Home Console versions.

Hmmm, probably just the demo for me too. I saw the srceenshot of Sengoku 2 and immediatley thought 'Oh God, not another fighter' as if the VC isn't drowning in enough of them as it is, but I was suprised when I saw no health bars and read that it's a side scolling beat 'em up.

I probably still won't be getting it, its just nice that there's something other than a fighter being released.

Well Transformed had better be damn well worth the wait. I'm bored of Mario Kart.

Hope that sonic racing is decent, as I need a change from mk7.
Not that it's a bad game or anything :D

Man, I wanna get into the Mega Man series. Not sure if I should buy the games on Wii VC or 3DS VC....

Apart from the demo, I may get MM2. I only have one in the series, and I could play it on the bus...

Get them on Wii since they're cheaper. As far as classic Mega Man goes I'd suggest starting with Mega Man 2. The first one isn't quite as good I find, and MM3 is trickier to work out the weaknesses of each Robot Master, whereas in 2 it can be more logical. Also MM2 has Metal Blades and you don't have to fight the super irritating Yellow Devil.
The Wii VC also has 4 and 5, but I've not played them yet so I don't know what they're like.

Definitely getting MM2, got MM1 last year from eshop, first time playing any MM game before and it was pretty good. Fractured soul looks an interesting game too, so the demo is mine.

I'll be getting Megaman 2, most certainly. I enjoyed the first one, and call me a wuss, but the ability to save state on the 3DS, as you might with an emulator, is a god send with games of this difficulty.
