Scribblenauts Unlimited suffers last-minute delay

3DS and Wii U game not coming out this week

Scribblenauts Unlimited will not be released in the UK this week after Nintendo delayed 5th Cell's new game across Europe to make some changes to the game.

The Scribblenauts release date was set for Friday 8 February but a statement from Nintendo has confirmed the delay until further notice.

"We are sorry to announce that Scribblenauts Unlimited, a game developed by Warner Bros. Interactive & 5th Cell and published by Nintendo of Europe for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, will be delayed in Europe. It has come to light that some changes need to be implemented within the game before we launch them across Europe. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope to make further announcements on the European launch of these games very soon."

We'll keep you updated as soon as we learn the new release date.

    Here we go again!
    What next? Monster hunter? Rayman?
So I do literally have to wait until march to get any other decent games now! Unless they all get delayed.

  3. Serebii Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 10:40

Probably means it's getting censored like crazy -_-

  4. Ynni Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 11:51

Well there goes any likelihood of me getting this. I'll just wait for Monster Hunter Tri U.

  5. RainbowGazelle Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 12:05

What could possibly cause them to delay it just 3 days before the scheduled release.

Probably means it's getting censored like crazy -_-

Either that or they've found some huge glitch.

  6. deKay Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 12:07

Apparently it's already out in Australia, so you could just import it if you want...

Either that or they've found some huge glitch.

Unlikely - something like that would almost certainly be in other versions, and could be fixed with a patch.

    Ah yes, good point.

Is this what we can look forward to for the future of the Wii U delay after delay?

  10. adamatsu Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 12:34

must be a legal thing, maybe licensing infringement or something....very annoying...

  11. RainbowGazelle Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 12:49

Here's another idea. What if they've realised they've got American spellings of words, so English spelling won't work properly? Maybe.

  12. mario_boi Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 12:55

I probably won't bother with this game now. After so many more important releases in March, my wallet will be tapped out. Shame.

Maybe. The older games let you use both spellings in both the UK and US versions though.

Delay after delay,if this turns out to be released in March,I won't bother because there's quite a few more games I want more.

I was really looking forward to this.

Nintendo of Europe being Nintendo of Europe, any news about WarioWare Twisted?
Considering that Scribblenauts was a Wii U launch game in the US, it's kinda annoying we have to wait a few months longer, but i'll wait, since Scribblenauts is awesome.
Hope this won''t turn into New Leaf levels of delays, seriously, New Leaf is becoming Duke Nukem Forever 2...

Er, you mean the game that came out almost 8 years ago?

  17. coope69wm Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 15:13

I will not be buying this now, what a shambles!!! It's not like they couldn't do a day one patch as its likely that is just a localization problem. Fail!!!

  18. ledreppe Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 15:15

Oh well, I'll just have to hope I like the Crimson Shroud demo this week and play the full game in the mean time.

My... Week... Is...Ruined................ -cries solemnly- :(

  20. CyberGW Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 15:50

This is actually outrageous. It's already 4 months since the American release and I've been hyping like mad all week.
I am just really, REALLY annoyed.

  21. LOZanges Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 16:06

All this for a silly 'swimming water vehicle'

  22. KOP Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 16:47

I don't understand why everyone goes insane when a game gets delayed. It might be annoying, yes, but not enough to rage about! Everyone goes all negative and angry when something like this happens, and act like it's been cancelled or something.

Edit: Ok, nevermind. This is getting ridiculous with just about every developer.

  23. RainbowGazelle Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 16:59

I wish Nintendo would give a reason and be done with ridiculous secrecy. I bet that there is one thing mildly offensive to one European country -probably Germany- that isn't offensive in America. It probably means that the PEGI age rating is higher than Nintendo wants and now has to remove something small and get a re-rating. It'll be something stupid like that.

When the game is finally out, it would be nice if ONM did a comparison between the two versions so we can see what these "changes that need to be implemented" are.

what do I do now I've preordered it :?:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Riverlution Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 18:00

As long as they don't delay Rayman. Again.

  27. wolfboy300 Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 18:09

    Oh boy, a delay.

Probably something with the translation or even the censorship. Oh well, such is life.

  28. Nintendalek42 Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 18:55

Kill! Kill! Kill! Aaarrrghhhh! It's already been delayed so much! I was looking forward to it so much! Why? Why? Why so cruel? I'd really feel cheated, after what feels like an already useless 3-month delay since launch in the US, that they would want to censor something. What the hell is their to censor in the game? Who could ever feel offended? If they are censoring it at all, I already feel like bonking some heartless bureaucratic plonk on the head, but if they censor it too much for my tastes, I will feel like implementing what this comment started with. An absolutely scandalous announcement, a real let-down, thank you very much for spoiling my week whoever is behind this. They better send it out again fast, although I guess there's no hope in expecting it before the end of the month :| .
    Again, aaargh.

  29. Johny G Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 19:24

The Miiverse Community for this has been up since pretty much day 1 and if I remember rightly the game was meant to be released on 30 November on launch day.

  30. starmie68 Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 20:12

I have to say this is starting to get annoying with games being moved back,Please Nintendo get the release dates sorted and start bringing out the games i bought this system for.

Looks like march is going to be an expensive month lol

  31. Nintimdo Tuesday 5th Feb 2013 at 20:54

the Germans have got to have something to do with this!!!!!

  32. AtomAtton Wednesday 6th Feb 2013 at 07:51

Steam has it for the 15th of February. Still reaaly annoyed with this.

  33. deKay Wednesday 6th Feb 2013 at 08:26

what do I do now I've preordered it :?:

    Wait.

I preordered it in June or something. I can wait a bit longer.

I've just received an e-mail from Amazon that my copy has dispatched...

  35. STUMPWEASEL Sunday 10th Feb 2013 at 23:01

Perhaps, KOP, you are a master at delayed gratification... But when you've look forward to something for quite some while, and you see that it's out in other regions, then yes, people get grumpy. Sure, it's not the end of the world, but it's exasperating. And given that Nintendo are supposed to be really pushing 3DS and Wii U in Europe and particularly the UK, it does make you wonder what in tarnation was wrong with the game... So please, KOP, cut the disgruntled gamers some slack.

I have a friend who managed to download a copy before it was pulled from the eShop... I'm very curious to know what she's got in her version that the rest of us won't get to see. :o

  36. Kirsten Tuesday 12th Feb 2013 at 22:18

I heard somewhere that the game was released on the 15 of February! I hope

  37. deKay Tuesday 12th Feb 2013 at 22:40

    I hope so!

Mind you, with Tank Tank Tank free on Thursday, Batman and The Cave still to play, and Sonic Transformed due to arrive by the weekend, I'm not sure I'll have the time!
