Mario Golf: World Tour coming to 3DS this summer

Forget the Open. This is the summer's biggest game of golf.

Mario Golf: World Tour has been confirmed for 3DS. With a release date set for summer 2013, it's the plumber's first golf game since Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on GBA.

Introducing the game during Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata promised that Mario Golf: World Tour would feature deep golf gameplay for fans of the sport, plus straightforward controls for newcomers.

The game features traditional golf courses as well as ones inspired by Mario's world. In the video, we saw a giant Goomba towering over a course. You can also expect super shots to return. You won't see those at Muirfield this summer.

Luigi, Waluigi, Wario, Donkey Kong and Bowser will be joining Mario on the course.

As with last year's Mario Tennis Open, Camelot are on development duties. You can see the first screens below but if you want to see Mario Golf: World Tour in action, watch this video from 10.30.

Noticing how this has no comments, Looks ok, but I won't be getting this after the severe dissapointment I had with Mario tennis open, Not that fun in single player.

Can't wait for this, glad to see the best of the sport spin-offs back, and in the capable hands of Camelot.

I'm looking forward to this, though I am a bit disappointed that Camelot haven't been working on a 3DS Golden Sun this past year. (assuming they're only working on one game)

If it is more like Mario Golf for GBA than the GC one, then it will definitely be one of my must have games this year.

I can't wait for this to be released. Not because I want the game (it does look good though), but because maybe Camelot will start working on a new Golden Sun once this is done.
