On Tuesday morning I woke up, turned on the PC, routinely opened Facebook, and was greeted by a friend's post showing the leaked CoroCoro scan of a new Pokemon from Pokemon X and Y. At first, I had thought it was yet another fake. Fake CoroCoro leaks often do the rounds as we wait for a new main series Pokemon game. As I looked at the picture I had thought it was some fan-made Fennekin evolution. Then I looked closer and saw all the Eevee evolutions (known as Eeevelutions to fans) around it. It's was the eighth Eeveeultion, Ninfia. Or Sylveon to give it its English name.
I wasn't too surprised to find out it was an Eeveultion due to the rumours surrounding the Eevee short for the next Pokemon movie which is due out later this year. But to me, on first glance, it really didn't look like it was related to an Eevee.
Many comments then followed, with some saying it looks like a Victini, understandable as the face and colour scheme share many similarities. Unknown at this time are the Type and evolution method. Fans have been going crazy with speculation over the Type. From picking apart its name to associating features and colours to a certain Type. Personally if I had to take a guess at method of evolution, I would guess the use of a Prism Scale, like Feebas to Milotic, as the colours are similar. The Type however, I don't have a clue!
Anyway, Sylveon isn't my favourite Eeveelution. Here is my top three. Take a look and then vote for your favourite in the poll at the end.
Fire Type Flareon, along with Electric Type Jolteon and Water Type Vaporeon make up the original three Eeveelutions. All three are evolved by the use of evolution stones. In Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow you could only receive one Eevee. Players then had a tough choice to decide which of the three to evolve Eevee into.
Personally I chose Flareon. I'd like to think it was because my team needed a Fire Type, but it was probably because I thought it was much cuter than Jolteon and Vaporeon. In later years my love for Flareon has increased after seeing its shiny colours. The shiny Flareon has the same colours as Eevee.
If Eevee did evolve normally, I'd like to think shiny Flareon would be how it would look. Part of the reason I aim to complete my Pokedex in Pokemon Black 2 (I'm over 600 now!) is so that I can use the shiny charm to increase my chances of successfully breeding a shiny Eevee so I can finally own the shiny Flareon I've always wanted.
