Resident Evil Revelations Wii U: New enemies and playable character revealed

See the first screenshots of The Wall Blister!

These new Resident Evil Revelations Wii U screenshots show off the two new enemies that will appear in Capcom's survival horror remake that's set for release on 24 May.

One new enemy is called the Wall Blister while another unnamed new enemy shows up in Raid Mode when you reach a certain level

Talking of Raid Mode, you may already know that Hunk is a playable character and he'll be joined by Rachel who made her debut in the 3DS version of Resident Evil Revelations.

Resident Evil Revelations will also be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 but Capcom have some exclusive features for Wii U owners. You'll be able to access your map and weapons easily on the GamePad touchscreen and you'll also be able to play the game on the GamePad only, meaning you'll be able to play in bed! It'll almost be like playing the original, only with a bigger screen and vastly improved visuals.

Then there's Miiverse. You'll be able to post a message as you're dying on the Game Over screen for other players around the world to see. Also, there's a 'Creatures Voice' feature which enables you to write speech bubbles for the enemies in Raid Mode. The idea is that these messages will taunt your friends.

Finally, Resident Evil Revelations supports Residentevil.net with online events and in-game connectivity planned for after launch. Exclusive dioramas of the game's characters and enemies can be collected through the online service and you can earn custom parts and weapons for use in Raid Mode, plus items for Campaign Mode.

What do you think of all the new Wii U features? Are you going to buy Resident Evil Revelations Wii U?

Not sure. These extras do look pretty cool. I'm not sure if it's worth a second purchase though. However, I do find myself swaying towards 'yes'.

Those enemies look pretty neat, a lot more variation than in the original. But are these exclusive to raid mode or are they also in the main game, I wonder?

Also nice to see Rachel not dead and actually fighting. She already looks a lot more capable than in the original's cutscenes. Still have no clue as to how she can see, mind.

I know what you mean. I've been debating whether or not it's worth it considering the amount of time I put into the 3DS version. But then Raid mode is so much fun, coupled with the off TV play and Miiverse integration... I think I might be swayed to buy it again... maybe.

Isn't that 'unnamed new enemy' just the final boss? Or a variation on it at least, looks similar to me.

Yes, that's what I thought. Looks very nice but still not sure if I'm going to buy it again.

I haven't seen enough new material yet to warrant buying Revelations again, although I would recommend anyone who didn't play the original to buy this! :)
