Yes, on 28 March, you'll be able to download a demo for Intelligent Systems' new 3DS strategy game. Given that Luigi's Mansion 2 and LEGO City Undercover are also out on 28 March, it could be a busy day for Nintendo fans.
In Fire Emblem: Awakening, you create your own character and take him or her into battle with Prince Chrom and the Shepherds as you command an army in turn-based battles while utilising the unique skills of your units.
You have to build a formidable army of heroes through forming allegiances with the many characters you encounter who become stronger and more effective as you command them. They even form friendships, get married and have children who will fight alongside their parents. So you can choose to play as a matchmaker to bring lovers together, or as a strategist to create the strongest army yet.
It will be emotional as characters with whom you have formed relationships will fall on the battlefield, never to return. Unless you turn on the Newcomer mode which turns off the permanent death feature.
You can also expect new co-op challenges where you and a friend can connect your Nintendo 3DS locally and take turns in defeating enemies.
The life of your game will be extended thanks to SpotPass and DLC, both available when Fire Emblem Awakening is released for 3DS on 19 April. Via SpotPass, you will encounter legendary teams from other Fire Emblem titles in the series, and receive special items, new maps and co-op challenges for free.
DLC promises to broaden your core campaign with new battle scenarios that delve deeper into characters' stories and see you gaining new members in your party and carrying over all experience points, items and gold you've reaped to your main quest.
There's also free DLC at launch as the first add-on content map will cost nothing to download for a limited time, meaning you'll be able to recruit a special legacy character to your main game!
Are you looking forward to Fire Emblem: Awakening? Are you going to play the demo?
