Devil Survivor Overclocked patch in the works

Ghostlight and Atlus working together to fix bugs

Ghostlight, the publisher of Devil Survivor Overclocked, are working with developer Atlus and Nintendo on a patch which will fix a bug in the European version that's causing the game to freeze.

Devil Survivor Overclocked - which was released for 3DS last week - will freeze if you summon a demon during battle or if an auction house seller lies about the stats. These problems can prevent you from completing the game so it's pretty serious.

In a post on the Ghostlight blog, the publisher apologised for the problem and asked for patience as the three companies work on a patch.

"We have been in contact with Atlus who are already looking into fixing the possible causes of problems when summoning a demon in to a battle along with the intermittent crash found in the Auction House. Nintendo have also been contacted and will be able to help us both quickly and efficiently through the process of looking at a patch solution.

"Sorry that we don't have any more news for you at this time but we are working as fast as we can towards a fix. We appreciate your words of support and continued patience through our first release on 3DS."

Did you buy Devil Survivor Overclocked? Were you affected by the bug?

Well this is slightly disappointing, I've had this on preorder since February and I should be receiving the game over the next few days , but if in its current state is considered un playable then should I hold off staring a saved game till the patch is out? I wouldn't want to get attached to all the work I've put into it only for the game to glitch and I lose it all.

    Advice?

problems when summoning a demon in to a battle

Isn't that the main mechanic of the game? If so then it's frankly baffling how they missed it. Odd. Not buying the "our first 3ds realise" thing as a reasonable excuse, it just seems like they are looking for a bit of sympathy.

I'm happy that there's a patch at all.

Was just getting really frustrated with this. Has crashhed twice in the auction house and once in battle when summoning a demon... It's not a complete game breaker, but if you want to replace one of your demons mid battle then it crashes. The auction house seems to randomly have sellers who have lied to you, when this happens it throws you back to 3ds menu...

No, not really. You won't summon demons in battle all that often if you're playing well. Its an SRPG, and most of your "party loadout" is done prior to entering battle. You'll usually only summon in battle if a demon gets KOed and you don't have anyone with (sama)recarm on the field. Yeah, a "first release" isn't really a lot of excuse, that's what QA is for.

Summoning a demon in battle is like switching out a pokemon thats fainted in battle.
