Nintendo Direct scheduled for Friday, will focus on Wii U

What do you want to be announced?

A new Nintendo Direct broadcast will take place on Friday 17 May at 3pm. This new show for Europe will be focused on Wii U games that are coming up this spring and summer.

A second Nintendo Direct - fopcusing on the games that will be released in the autumn and beyond will follow around the time of the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.

Nintendo has made many exciting new announcements during recent Nintendo Direct shows. In recent months, The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and A Link To The Past 2 have been revealed so hopes will be high for tomorrow's show which comes just three weeks just before E3.

Of course, Nintendo isn't holding a large E3 conference this year but the company will still be delivering the latest news direct to fans via Nintendo Direct while media have been invited to play Nintendo's new games at a special event hosted by Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto.

You will be able to watch Nintendo Direct live on ONM from 3pm on Friday 17 May. What are you hoping for from the show?

Ideally Nintendo will show us all the summer games we've been looking forward to all ready tomorrow, I'm talking about Pikmin 3, LoZ:WW HD etc. Then, at the end, throw down the gauntlet and give the tinniest teaser for E3 and get us all hyped. This approach will make sure I'm not sat watching Nintendo next month drone on about the same games for the 3-4 time which I'll be playing a few weeks time and focus on Mario Kart, 3D mario and of course the new Smash.

Really want a Wind Waker HD gameplay trailer and some more info! isn't that due out in August? they're waiting a long time to start proper marketing for that game.

With any luck this'll be the Wii-U equivalent of the 3DS Nintendo Direct back at the start of the year, as lord knows the Wii-U could do with... well... games.

I'd like to see Wind Waker too! My birthday's in august, Nintendo has got to persuade me to get that over watch dogs!

I think some people might be getting their hopes up expecting Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda etc to be shown. It says that the Nintendo Direct is for games being released in Spring/Summer, so expect stuff like a Pikmin 3 release date, Game & Wario release date, maybe some eShop titles or something.

They may have some surprises, but it states that another Nintendo Direct closer to E3 is for the Autumn/Winter games, which are more than likely the Mario, Mario Kart reveals.

I'd prefer something brand-new, but Wind Waker, Mario Kart, Pikmin and 3D Mario would be good. I can't wait!

maybe a little 3ds news lol

Wario already has a uk release date (June 28th)

but i'm hoping for final & guaranteed release dates for pikmin 3 & the wonderful 101 since i've waited so long for them.

as others have stated I doubt you'll get mario kart smash bros or 3d mario but they could show minor trailers & say see the whole thing at e3 nintendo direct.

I'd like more info on the e-shop personally like how about maybe game cube games (pikmin 1 & 2 will be added to the e-shop the month before pikmin 3 is released to get you in the mood! ( i know it's not going to happen well not yet i do expect gamecube on e-shop)

& maybe they could tell us when we are finally getting tvii I don't much care but it will stop them all asking in miiverse everytime marty has an update that & bigger miiverse limit obviously everyone knows 100 isn't enough.

other than that just a general huge surprise they tend to have at least one so fingers crossed.

Nintendo claim not to compete with Microsoft and Sony but the timing of this could be deliberately a week before the Next Box reveal and in a week of some big Sony announcements.

If Nintendo play this right they could avert the medias eyes away from M and S and onto themselves. Show a substantial amount of Pikmin, new features etc, show some Wind Waker game play. Give us release dates for Deus Ex, Bayonetta, and Wonderful 101 (please one of these soon). Surprise us with a return to an old franchise, maybe Starfox or Chibi Robo. Round this off with a trailer for their e3 plans. Loads of 3rd party and 1st party footage, finishing with a 'hey, listen' and Links face illuminated by a blue-ish fairy glow.

Do all this and there's no way anyone will want to miss their e3 Directs.

Given their recent Directs it wouldn't surprise me if we see something special tomorrow.

games, lots of games, preferably good games and soon, 'this year' soon and some awesome freaking new features or apps too, is that too much to ask for?

  14. WOLFENFTW Thursday 16th May 2013 at 15:26

New Starfox and new Metroid please :D

  15. Ridley128 Thursday 16th May 2013 at 15:28

    MONOLITH PROJECT X PLEASE!

This conference will probably decide for me if I get a WiiU this summer. Although at the same time I wont be expecting anything amazing, just a few solid games that I know I can rely on this summer.
I do think too many people are complaining about the lack of games a little. In terms of good games, there is Lego City,Mario, ZombiU, Batman, Assasins Creed, Darksiders 2, Injustice,Mass Effect,Ninja Gaiden, Tekken, and lots more. Surely you havent completed all of them ? Or maybe I'm being stupid :P

If there's one thing the last few Directs have proved, it's that we never know what to expect from them...could be absolutely anything!

  18. HaydnRhys Thursday 16th May 2013 at 15:51

I just want to know something about Wind Waker HD!! There has been almost nothing since it was announced.

  19. Cidiyance Thursday 16th May 2013 at 16:05

I just want them to tell us that 3DS and WiiU will utillise NNID's instead of the 3DS using friend codes. Or atleast allow us to link the two together so I can take my VC games... (the ones I repurchased on WiiU after the Wii version or else that would be asking for a miricle) and get done with Castlevania 3 or maybe use the 3DS, combined with the circle periferal pad to to play with on WiiU.

If this one is focused on games for the Spring and Summer then I imagine there may be less "omg" moments. Still, it will be good to see some of the games that I can look forward to playing soon.

I think this conference could definitely do as you say. Announce something big, and it could overshadow the competitors, which is always good.
In regards to Chibi-Robo, as happy as I would be to have another game, I doubt it'd ever happen. We never got the 1st DS sequel, was only released in the US and Australia outside of Japan (fortunately, I went on holiday to the US some time after it came out and went to Wal Mart mainly to get the game), and the 2nd sequel was never released outside of Japan. The original was also remade for the Wii about a month before the release of the 3rd game, and also never got out of Japan. And that all ended in 2009, so no game for the series in 4 years. It sucks so much as the 3rd game looked amazing. It'd be great if that game was remade for the Wii U and game here (or even the 3DS and came here...just come to the UK damn it!).

  23. MartinIsAwesome Thursday 16th May 2013 at 18:02

3pm tomorrow? It's a date. I'm not going to expect yet another big surprise announcement this time. Probably some news of Pikmin 3, Scrbblenauts Unlimited's actual release date, and Wonderful 101 though. And if there is a massive surprise, that's a bonus.

  24. m0i Thursday 16th May 2013 at 18:26

    Retro's new game maybe?

  25. Riverlution Thursday 16th May 2013 at 18:35

About time we got some news on more Wii U content. Still can't believe Nintendo had two rubbish launches like this in a row.

  26. Mr Roboto Thursday 16th May 2013 at 20:07

Great this should do me until E3!

  27. Nintimdo Friday 17th May 2013 at 07:11

I want Nintendo to surprise me with a brand new 1st party IP, Gamecube and Dreamcast games on eShop, and an announcement that Wii U is getting most if not all the latest 3rd party games that are due for release.
