Flipnote Studio 3D delayed in Europe

Nintendo working to 'provide best possible service'

Flipnote Studio 3D has been delayed in Europe, Nintendo has announced. The follow up to the DS application was set for release on 1 August but a new release date hasn't been set.

Announcing the delay, Nintendo said that it is still working to ensure that Flipnote Studio 3D will be as good as it can be.

"Nintendo of Europe regrets to announce that Flipnote Studio 3D, originally due for a European launch on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS on 1st August, will be delayed.

"Due to unexpectedly high levels of user activity since the launch of the application in Japan on 24th July, we decided to postpone our European launch until we can deliver the best possible service to users. We apologise for any inconvenience this delay may cause, and will announce a new launch date as soon as possible."

Flipnote Studio 3D updates old fashioned flip-pad animations by offering 3D layering, audio and giving you the ability to share your creations with the world.

You can create Flipnotes in 3D by arranging three different layers, before adjusting the 3D depth to your desired level. An increased number of colours will also be available for you to use.

Once you've made your Flipnote, you can convert it into an AVI file and share it online.

Are you looking forward to Flipnote Studio 3D? Give your reaction to the delay in the comments.

Well that is disappointing, I've been looking forward for to this for a while. I wasn't even aware this was coming Thursday, so I would of been happily surprised if it did.

These delays are happening too often now, I'm not one who was particularly fussed about Flipnote, but I know a couple of people who are and this may bother them more than me. But I do feel that Nintendo are delaying too many titles now; Luigi's Mansion 2, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, Spin the Bottle, Mario Golf: World Tour and now Flipnote Studio 3D. The delays are starting to get a bit painful now...please don't continue to do this with other titles...

Well, going with NoE usual timeframe for 'soon', I guess we'll get a release date in a few months (or years).

Hopefully we won't have to wait long, cause that wait for the already delayed Scribblenauts Unlimited and Tvii is taking the mick.

Not that there's even a legit reason for delaying that game. 5th Cell/Nintendo have NO EXCUSE for not releasing it here, when it's already out in a PAL area (Australia). It's just not worth waiting anymore, and sorry 5th Cell, but you've just lost yourself a customer. Permanently.

Ugh, Europe always gets the shaft when it comes to release dates.

Hopefully, the wait will be put to good use by the developers...

To be fair, we got Pikmin, Mario & Luigi and Wonderful 101 before America. But, yes: delays are never fun. Boo, hiss, etc.

There is a reason for the cancellation the European release of Scribblenauts. WB got sued by the creators of Nyan Cat and Keyboard Cat for using them in the game without permission, so they couldn't release it here.
If you really want it, buy it on Steam.

Not very surprising to be honest. Some of us waited 2 years for the official announcement. It's starting to become a pattern, though. For the couple of years quite a few games have been delayed that were designed for the 3ds and Wii U. For example, Luigi's Mansion 2. I remember my friend and I asking if their were stocking the game any time soon at game when ONM wrote ETA Spring 2012...

Delays are part and parcel of tha gaming industry.Look at what is currently available ,Colours 3d ,Art Academy..and get those instead .

I was looking forward to this a few months ago :(
Also, you forgot that it's also delayed in America

Gahhhhh. Inchworm Animation is a stupid game/app that I hate animating with and the delay for Flipnote is probably going to be typical Nintendo-style: LONG My annoyance is too great for me to even bother typing down :|
