How to download event Pokemon in Pokemon X and Y

There's a new way to get hold of special Pokemon

Game Freak has announced a new way to download event Pokemon in Pokemon X and Y. As announced on the official Pokemon website in Japan, you'll be able to enter serial codes to download special Pokemon that aren't always available in the game.

So, as long as you have the Pokedex, you'll be able to enter the code and obtain your Pokemon via the Mystery Gift feature which is now available from the beginning.

Serial codes were available for the Pokemon Black and White games and could be used within the Global Link but not for downloading Event Pokemon.

As well as this, you'll also be able to download event Pokemon via Wi-Fi when you go to a Nintendo event or a store that is hosting a distribution (like the current Legendary Creation Trio event at GAME stores). Serebii reports that some Wonder Cards will also be distributed via Wi-Fi so you'll be able to get them without visiting a store or an event. The Pokemon site also reports that you'll be able to get hold of Pokemon via Infra-Red. Apparently these will be used at some events in Japan.

It remains to be seen how many distribution methods Nintendo will use to distribute event Pokemon in the UK during 3DS' lifetime. So far, we know that you'll be able to get Torchic on 12 October via Nintendo Network. You'll need it if you want to get hold of Mega Blaziken.

Hopefully, Europe gets a Jirachi event or Dexoys event in January 2014 . I don't see why GameFreak can't do Space related pokemon related events that tie-in with UK's Stargazing yearly event.

Because Japan has held yearly Tanabata Jirachi events between 2004 and 2009 and I feel that they shouldn't be the only place have space related pokemon fun and also because Deoxys counts as a Space related pokemon due it being a Space virus that somehow mutated according to its pokedex.

So will these serial codes have to be different for every download, or will everyone be able to use the same code?

Please, please, please let this generation see the end of in-store-exclusive events.

Do you have to use a code for the Torchic event? Or is that one going out on Wi Fi?

Wasn't there recently a Deoxy's event? You can borrow mine if you just need for dex filling.

Maybe since the new versions are released globally at the same time. We'll finally get unified event distribution?

Event legendaries I'm missing:Celebi, Jirachi, Shaymin, Darkrai, Meloetta.

I don't like country exclusives or store exclusives, bring on the WIFI. And perhaps after this long a Mew event?

I think you use local wireless for in-store events, not WiFi... Either way, can't wait for that Torchic :3
