Animal Crossing Gets A Name Change

Let's Go To The City set for release in December.

Animal Crossing will be released for Wii in the UK in December, Nintendo has announced. The company has also revealed that the game will now be called Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City rather than City Life.

Let's Go to the City allows players to create their own perfect life in the country, but also introduces a new city area to explore.

As ever you'll take control and shape the world around you from decorating your house to creating constellations in the heavens. Start the game in your own quiet town and meet many animal characters along the way as you collect new furniture, wallpaper and carpets to make your house a home. Alternatively, you could spend your time fishing and gardening.

When you take a bus to the city you'll be able to visit Gracie Grace, the large and exclusive department store that sells special items and furniture to customise your home. You can also customise your own character at the hair salon with your favourite Mii and compete with other players selling and bidding for items at the auction house.

As for online options, you'll be able to use Wi-Fi Connection to send friends letters and items from the post office located in each town. You can also travel to a friend's town and explore their unique Animal Crossing environment or invite them to visit you.

Then there's the Wii Speak microphone which sits on top of your television and enables you to chat to your friends.

Of course Animal Crossing fans will already know a lot of this but there's an extra treat for them. Owners of Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo DS will be able to transfer some character data to Wii. The Nintendo DS can also be used as a 'suitcase' allowing players to take their character to and from a friend's Wii console to explore their Animal Crossing world.

What do you think of the name change?

What the hell? The name was good enough as it was, now it's been tweaked to make it sound ever-so-slightly condescending and kiddie like...

  2. Wario90 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 09:54

Totally pointless, the name was fine before

  3. leegelson1987 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 10:02

Thats the most pointless name change since Sega changed 'Sonic Wild Fire' to 'Sonic and the Secret Rings'. I guess they changed the name of Animal Crossing though since they may of felt that 'City Folk' was misleading since half the time your not going to be in the city. They could of thought up something much better though.

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-*deep breath*-oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

    Yup, the new name sucks...

Whoever thought changing the name to what it is now SHOULD BE FIRED.

City Folk sounded completely inclusive to everyone. "Lets go to the city" sounds like some stupid title of a book for two year olds to help them learn how to read.

What the hell are nintendo thinking?! Are they TRYING to shoot themselves in the foot?

I'm sure EVERYONE agrees with my post here.

My view is that...well...this is their ONLY big title this christmas (note that I'm specifically leaving out that joke, wii music), and they've done this.

Nothing short of disappointing, for casuals and hardcore fans alike.

I heard about the name changing a couple of weeks ago for Australia, as they are a PAL region as well, I'm not surprised they have changed it here. Lousy name still, and annoying to abbreivate, AC:CF much easier than AC:LGTTC. I will always think of it as city folk for the new name is way too kiddish. Most disappointing thing was they are saying a december release for here, not a surprise really as all games companies hate europe but there were rumours of a november release which got my hopes up. Still, as long as it comes out this year...

  8. adastoy Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 12:05

it does sound like a babies book title now....they should of left as was....

Ah yes, but look at it this way. If they DIDN'T get it out for christmas this year, they'd be relying on wii music for their christmas sales push. And that's not gonna shift wiis, I can tell you that right now.

But yeah, I'm happy with december. Better than waiting until like, easter, right?

it does sound like a babies book title now....they should of left as was....

I'm glad you agree with me :)

  13. MK Skillz Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 13:11

Well, the original name sucked and this one sucks even harder.

Animal Crossing Wii would've been fine, none of this "Let's Go To The City!" rubbish was needed.

  14. windshifter Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 13:42

Thats tottally pointless! Why couldnt they just leave it as it was? now it sounds like a bloody kids game.. *prays* Plz let them change it to wat it used to be PLEASE!

  15. darkandy666 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 13:49

no no no wht the hell!!!!!! they did this in aus god u *****

  16. Komodo_Wolfgang Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 13:52

looks like someone got hyper in the nameing department and got a little too in touch with thier kiddy side.

when you abreveiate names it shuld be short. but AC:LGTTC? sounds like a format setting. 'Animal Crossing City Folk' was Better.

I wander how they'll fit 'Animal Crossing Lets go to the City' on the box... someone needs a new tiny font...

  17. regwells Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:10

Sound like a game for under fives. It sucks the monkey big time.

  18. Lost Rider Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:10

Sounds kind of tacky, but I don't care as long as the game turns out good.

  19. Anonymous Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:31

Need i remind you that its JUST A BLOODY NAME...

Seriously though, you guys are making a far to big a deal of this >_>

Aslong as the gameplay is good (Which it definatly will be) then you dont need to worry about the name.

All very very true but the name is still stupid. City Folk was absolutely fine, easy to say, easy to read, easy to abbreviate. The new one the opposite.

    However...Good name =/= good game

  21. Kirbyfan13 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:47

    Gay new name is gay

  22. The Sandbag Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:50

i don't like the new name. i preferred city folk, now it just doesn't feel right

  23. OtakuBoy Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:54

If the name change was the other way around, I would understand :?

But the new name makes it seem like some of those 'Imagine' games you can get for the DS

'Let's Go To The City', 'Let's Make a Cake', 'Let's be a vet'

You know what I mean? :?

  24. Illyflippo Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 14:58

I would comment on this, but kids go on this website.

Well, if someone saw that in a shop window and had never heard of Animal Crossing, then they'd probably turn their head away from it.. :?

  26. Anonymous Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:01

Anyone who says there not getting the game now just because of the name is gonna get face palmed

  27. Ryan-8 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:04

they NEED to change it back

  28. Dancingcyberman Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:07

I only just got used to City Folk. Which it thought was epic. :/
What a crap name, like said before, sounds like a todlers story book.

  29. shy guy 64 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:10

    i prefed city folk

  30. Ze Terminator Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:11

Cityfolk was a fine name and TBH the new name sounds like the title to a pop-up book for 5 year olds :?

  31. wiikii007 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:17

  ...Nintendo are the worst people for coming up with names. First Revolution sounded just fine and they changed it to wii. Then this  ...

Oh well though, its just a name. The game hopefully won't be as bad as the name suggests.

  32. .Yoshi. Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:17

Wtf? The name was great, and now its long AND child-like. And I mean 6 year old child-like. City Folk was awesome, City Life is fine, but Lets go to the City? Come on now, thats just dumb. In fact, its the dumbest thing since I heard the maker of James Bond is not gonna include the phrases: Bond. James Bond and Martini shaken not stirred any more. WTF!!!!!!!!
Change it back NOW. It doesn't effect if I enjoy it or not, but still. It would sell better if it was: AC: George Bush is cool. Absolutely stupid.

  33. Carbonite2008 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:17

no offense but it sounds, well, gay...

  34. pokemon151 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:18

im going to feel a prat buying this from the shop!
    (because of the name obviously)

  35. GamerKid Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:29

    duh

  36. Lost Rider Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:29

If you think about it though, the name does sort of go with the feel of Animal Crossing *shot*

    XD

  37. Emcnelis Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:32

I don't see what's the big deal about it. It's just a name. So what? It's not gonna do anything to the game itself.

  38. SuperMarioFan886 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:34

Thats just stupid. It used to be so simple yet now its going to be longer and harder to say.

  39. atheeta Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:34

lol..am i the only one that likes the new name? i don't find it childish at all. I think it sounds better than the old name but they should've kept it short

  40. deku-shrub Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:43

sounds stupid, who dosnt understand city folk, whhy did they feel the need to change it to,'lets go to the city', i just find it stupid.

  41. LordYoshiman Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:43

    Wild World = Stupid Name

    City Folk = Stupid Name

Let's Go To The City = Stupid Name

and may I remind you, everyone thought Wii was a stupid name? Wow, people really do hate change. People, the name will be underneath the huge "ANIMAL CROSSING" title, and only shown ONCE in the game. It won't ruin the entire experience.

The only problem I can see is how to shorten it... ACLGTTC?

  42. DS2008 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:45

What a terrible name. Changing Kirby Squeak Squad and Canvas Curse to Mouse Attack and Power Paintbrush is okay, but seriously, Let's Go The City? More like " Let's go annoy the person who opted for the silly name change". Although names aren't that essential. :?

  43. smashbros-kid Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:46

Aparently the change was because in some accents when saying the word 'folk' it sounds like a silmilar four lettered word begining and ending in the same letters. Personally I think thats hillarious but the last thing a parent needs is a child pestering them for city... you know what I mean.

  44. biggerboo Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:49

we need an aprentice style firing for the person who made the change.
whats next resident evil lets kill brightly coloured zombies

  45. Dark_Dragon01 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:50

I think the name change is ludicrous. There was no need for it, so why the change?

  46. smashbrother Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:51

honestly, i prefered city folk, but i suppose a name dusnt mean anything, as long as it doesnt change to animal crossing: city massacre or sumet like that :?

  47. Mr.GameandWatch Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:53

    What in the world?
Lets go to the City you must be mad.It sounds like a I Did it Mum/Dad title.I feel like a 2 year old wanting it.

  48. Ben707 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 15:58

Yet again nintendo showing how casual it is.

    I'll still buy it though!

  49. Yoshi Egg Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 16:00

    This name is just awful.

  50. mtrd_hntr Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 16:01

well hopefully the actual game will still be good

if this was ment to cater for the "hardcore" and then they give a kiddy name which obviously isn't gonna make teh hardcorez consider it, well, there must be some major selling strategy behind it right? :?

i want to get "Gears of War:Let's go to the City" for christmas :|

edit: and what is the world coming to when you have to censor perfectly fine words because they share common pronunciation/lettering to something considered innapropriate. you could say any word in a dialect that makes it sound similar to something else. i can understand the whole "puck man" thing being changed, but is someone seriously THAT worried that people are going to go round every game box and change the title?

even if people did mistake the name because of the way someone else said it, i'm sure if you typed "City ****" into a search engine they'd soon realise it was City Folk instead _

  51. FACEslime Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 16:05

    They just ruined the name.

    Cuty folk sounded good...

Let's go to the city sounds pathetic -_-

  52. SpinachPuffs Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 16:09

It's just a name, and the quality of the Animal Crossing gameplay will remain - it is a little sad to think of those who'll pass on this game due to the title though. Fingers crossed Nintendo backs the game up with a large amount of informative advertising...

That said, Animal Crossing Wild World has shifted over 9 million copies worldwide, so the fanbase is there already...

  53. Super_John Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 16:11

I don't get it! City Folk was a great name, but now it'll get chucked into the Imagine: Babies etc. pile of tat, just because of it's name. I'm sure the game is great, but until we hear that it's not a joke, let's not go to the city.

  54. Zamolec Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 16:52

It's terrible! I liked It how it was. It suited the series and where it was going. City Folk worked well with Wild World. The name Let's Go To The City sounds like a cheap Wii cash-in title (don't make me name them, I'll be here till Tuesday!).

  55. nintendo22 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:06

    i hate it _

  56. koopamaster Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:07

I know City Folk is a strange name, but even that is MUCH better than this name.

  57. .Alex. Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:09

It's an atrocious name. "City Folk" flows offthe tongue and is quick and to the point. "Let's go to the City" is, well, crap in every way imaginable. I'm sick of European branches changing game names to something ridiculous (and giving us ginormous ugly game cases for that matter).

Meh, complain to Nintendo. That's the only way to get them to change it back.

  58. YAYFORNINTENDO Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:15

This name sucks bad, sounds like a little kiddy book, it sounds wierd saying.
"I want Animal Crossing Let's go to the City! for christmas"
    Retarded, what the hell Nintendo?

  59. benjamin246 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:16

    AAARRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!
Why change it to such a crapy name, it was fine before?
Sounds like a game twelve year old girls would buy now.
I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THAT.

  60. The Grim Reaper Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:25

    LOL.

  61. PurpleKitty1 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:27

Totally dissapointing name. =/ Shame on Nintendo.

When I get AC:Wii I'm still calling it Animal Crossing City Folk. Or Animal Crossing. Or Animal Crossing Wii.

  62. Oxo64 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:30

what a terrible name! what was wrong with 'City Life'?

i know it wont change the awsomeness that is Animal Crossing but still...

  63. clarkie123 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:32

Need i remind you that its JUST A BLOODY NAME...

Seriously though, you guys are making a far to big a deal of this >_>

Aslong as the gameplay is good (Which it definatly will be) then you dont need to worry about the name.

    Completely agree with you
Yes, it's not as good a name as City Folk, and yes it does sound kiddy, but in the end, are you really going to care about the name if the game turns out to be awesome (which, unless Nintendo mess it up big time, it should be).
Are you going to like the game any less? No.
Are you going to not even buy the game because of this? No.

*crosses fingers* Please don't flame me.
    :)

  64. emperor ing Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:36

I am disappointed with this. "City Folk" was a great title; snappy like Wild World, and it showed off the city integration nicely.

"Let's go to the City!" is far too long winded and sounds like it is trying too hard.

  65. nintendo_munki Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:40

i much preferred City Folk, especially as this name sounds a lot like Ninty trying to make the game appeal more to non-gamers. I felt that Can't Decide What to Eat was also pretty weak, as if the big N cant find any better names.
of course, that wont stop the game selling by the bucketload. im buying it, definintely!!

  66. george best Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:43

    what a rubbish name
it sounds corny whereas wild world was good
oh well the game will hopefully make up for the bad name

  67. Doctor Who Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 17:46

Does it really matter, the game will still suck badly, just like the DS version did.

  68. miike1706 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:06

Im quite happy that nintendo change the name to suckish title, mainly because I prefer playing games that arnt superly popular. It always annoys me when you have a game that EVERYBODY wants to play on exclusivly, so im quite happy if the new title cuts out a few people from buying it.i had that with wild world, because after playing the gamecube one to death i was looking formward to the ds one, but for the first few months of owning it, i barely got a look in from other peoples wanting to play on it. If a suckish title will repel the masses from one of my favourite games of all time, then so be it. its a sacrifice i would be willing to make.

  69. Zombieboy Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:08

Horrible name, probably some ploy to get parents to buy it for their young kids since it sounds like (as everyone else has agreed) a kids book.
The gameplay won't change but the potential audience just has.

  70. Anonymous Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:11

surely it would of been better as
    animal crossing, blood bath edition.

    no, wait it isn't a 360 game.

anyway, "a name is a name" (silent laughter) it doesn't change anything, except the overall sales.

its not as bad as red bull bc one. WHAT THE RAFFI

    paul d, obviously

  71. mandlecreed Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:15

    Just as rubbish as Wii.

    No.. Hang on..

    What does it matter?

Saying that, I'll only buy it if there's a kebab shop in the city that's open 'til 4am. And a pub. Brewster should branch out.

  72. windshifter Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:50

As i'm writing this second time, i'm thinking that the name of AC:CF Wii was better sounding and mor catchy. Therefore it's more likely to get bought from a shop.

But now its a very long name and its very less likely to get bought. Because of all this fuss i think that someone should tell Nintendo to change it back and so we all could stop worrying about it and start buying it =D .

  73. Doctor Who Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:50

That is just incredibly retarded reasoning, you want less people to buy the game so there is less chance of a new game (Not that it would matter since Animal Crossing sucks badly)?

  74. Flash7 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 18:51

    AAARRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!

LOL! My sister wants it and she's twelve!

  75. OSiO Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:05

_ I realy do hate the new name. It doesn't sound as good as the prequels. Nintendo would do better if they kept it as AC:CF.

Although the name is a turn off... I'll get the game, but it's only because i loved the DS version.

  76. Icarus_Kid Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:23

Not too bothered really, seeing as Animal Crossing is a rubbish game anyway. :D

  77. Mr.Davis Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:25

    Ascii facepalm goes here.

  78. king6856 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:26

how bad can you make a name. i liked city folk, i liked city life, but frankly this suckes and blows.
shame, nintendo. youve gained 1000 toddlers and lost 10000 potential costomers who wanted to see what all the animal crossing fuss was about.

(i hope those 10000 people buy okami, the best game ever instead btw) :D :D :D

  79. Chimpy94 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:32

The new title's rubbish and slightly too long there was no need to change it. But still it should be a great game no matter what the name is.

  80. Mama Luigi Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:39

Yeah Nintendo. Because "Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City" really rolls off the tongue.

Then again I wouldn't have wanted to waste hours fishing and collecting bugs. Those things are boring in real life and twice as boring in a game.

  81. azman321 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:41

WHy Did they change the name it was fine

  82. diddles Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 19:41

    Worst. Name. Ever.

  83. kirby king Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 20:25

i hate the new name city life was immence

  84. rachAC Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 20:50

I liked it the way is was cause it was shorter and now we have 2 wait longer and thats not fair. It was better the way it was   :( :( :(

  85. tenchirocks Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 20:52

It sounds terrible...... City Folk sounded a bit... I dunno, classier? Let's go to the city sounds patronising.

If you blame anyone, blame Nintendo of Europe, not Nintendo in general.

And if you don't like Animal Crossing, then bloody don't post on an Animal Crossing related topic. No one cares about your opinion if their's is different, people aren't that open to randomly change opinions at the drop of a hat.

  87. nomoreheroes101 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 21:42

An absolutes shocking decision and it makes it sound a lot worse plus it ihas ruined the poster of Ac Cf on my wall I got form ONM thank you Nintendo

  88. 13th Nightmare Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 22:37

I don't really like the new name. I thought the original one was fine as it was, don't see why they had to change it

  89. Deku Scrub142 Thursday 25th Sep 2008 at 23:37

_ I realy do hate the new name. It doesn't sound as good as the prequels. Nintendo would do better if they kept it as AC:CF.

Although the name is a turn off... I'll get the game, but it's only because i loved to hack the DS version.

    Fixed! >.>

Shows how uneventfull alot of peoples lives are when they get so aggitated over something like this... Title don't really bother me as I don't know wether I'll get it yet, seeing as it's a merger of the DS and NGC versions with a City slapped on...but meh I'll probally get it.

Anyways everyone knows Little Big Planet is THE childish looking/sounding game to get this year. :P

  90. OisinSamus Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 00:08

I can't believe how stressed some people are over this name...jeez, you're all acting like it's going to cripple the game, as if the new game is advertising itself to children rather than the core of before. It certainly isn't the worst name in a long while like some of the horde are sprouting. People are obviously forgetting both littlebig planet and infinite undiscovery.

In truth the name will change nothing, you're not all going to stick with the city folk name as some act of defiance because if you aren't doing it with the wii by calling it revolution, then frankly you wont do it for any game. Advertising will not change, this has always had casual appeal and toddlers and kids are the last people Eguchi wants to advertise the game to.

The important thing to remember is that "city folk" is a misleading term in terms of advertisment, something many of you are feeling strongly about for opposite reasons, and the fact that it was changed to better reflect the nature of the title is both acceptable and understandable.

"City Folk" sounded a LOT better than "Let's Go To The City". It's too long!

  93. daddybobo Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 06:01

The name sucks. I will still be buying it but why on earth did they change it?

  94. falco505 Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 06:39

we should just all refer to the game as Animal Crossing City Folk regardless and maybe if everybody does then we'll be in store of a quick name change.

Unfortunately i know how impossible that is

  95. smitty618 Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 06:53

jeez this is stupid. ITS A NAME, its doesnt make the game better or worse

I infact think it bears no differance from it last title

  96. chs1010 Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 12:30

well... coty folk did sound better but i guess the new name is ok if not a little long

Ahhh but surely any memorabilia showing Animal Crossing: City Folk is going to become that much more collectible as the rarer items generally do...

  102. Mr mario fan Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 15:12

a complete waste of time, the name was better (and shorter) before! ARRRRRRRRRRRRG. But its just a name that sounds more childish.

  103. gostanjones Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 15:19

    personally I preferred city folk.

  104. Komodo_Wolfgang Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 15:20

Does it really matter, the game will still suck badly, just like the DS version did.

ACWW was brilliant! only if you had patience and good taste in nintendo. if you hated the AC game why bother even looking at the forum?

  105. Komodo_Wolfgang Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 15:24

If a suckish title will repel the masses from one of my favourite games of all time, then so be it. its a sacrifice i would be willing to make.

what the hell? if you dont want anyone to play on it just dont let them? its your game. you play on it.

  106. Komodo_Wolfgang Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 15:30

lol..am i the only one that likes the new name? i don't find it childish at all. I think it sounds better than the old name but they should've kept it short

*makes a new island with a lone house on it* yes I am so sorry you are the only one. now live here for your own saftey.

  107. Komodo_Wolfgang Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 15:35

Need i remind you that its JUST A BLOODY NAME...

Seriously though, you guys are making a far to big a deal of this >_>

Aslong as the gameplay is good (Which it definatly will be) then you dont need to worry about the name.

Well, if someone saw that in a shop window and had never heard of Animal Crossing, then they'd probably turn their head away from it.. :?

I TOTALY agree. that is a valid point. well done mate *thumbs up*

  108. tallnthin Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 16:05

What the hell? The name was good enough as it was, now it's been tweaked to make it sound ever-so-slightly condescending and kiddie like...

    I agree It was fine B4! :x

  109. Meezie Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 16:26

I think a lot of you are forgetting this is a game aimed at kids. I don't know what the parental rating on the new wii game will be, but it's a 3+ on the DS here in the UK (don't know about anywhere else in the world) so therefore it IS aimed at KIDS!!

I'm sure what it is called won't detract from the fun of playing the new version, no matter what your age is - just we lose out on the short abbreviated name with this one

I'm no fan of the new name that has been given to the new animal crossing, but does it really matter what name it has, as long as the game is good. Besides, i felt bad when they changed the name of revolution to wii, but i've grown used to it, just as everyone else, as we will with animal crossing over time.

  115. Zo-Za Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 16:48

I like the new name, its alot better than city folf.
It was always released as a tentative name. And if you think about it, its a game thats designed to appeal to kids, but alot of people, who are older, like it to.
so if youre not going to get it, SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR LOSS, I will enjoy it for you!

  121. Don_Corleone Friday 26th Sep 2008 at 21:42

I think if I do get it, I'll buy it off the internet to save myself the embarasment of buying from the counter.

  122. Hero of Winds Saturday 27th Sep 2008 at 08:35

Yes the name is retarded and so is anyone who likes it, Don Corleone I wholeheartedly agree with you, and put the disk in a Wii Points card box and throw away the box the disk came in.

  127. Algar3000 Saturday 27th Sep 2008 at 20:04

I agree with most people here, it may only be a name but the name also gives a sort of face for the game.
I'm thirteen and prehaps still a kid but if i saw Animal Crossing "lets go to the city!" on the shelves and i'd never experienced the charm and quality of the AC franchise I'd probably shake my head, pick it up in pity and place it in the bargin box with Carnival games and *cough* Imagine ponies, then turn around and run.

  128. Adam2112 Saturday 27th Sep 2008 at 20:59

I don't really see what the big deal is about a name change. I don't like the name change either, I thought that City Folk sounded very Animal Crossing and fitted in really well with the theme of Animal Crossing. But because Nintendo sees it differently doesn't mean it's the end of the the world. The real Animal Crossing fans out there are going to buy the game no matter what its name is, and the gameplay is going to be the old Animal Crossing gameplay the fans know and love. So what' the big deal about simple name change.
On a side note, I say that it's a good thing if it get thrown into the shovelware bin upon its arrival, we'll get it cheaper that way!
    :D

  129. gamingprincess Sunday 28th Sep 2008 at 15:30

I don't see what's the big deal about it. It's just a name. So what? It's not gonna do anything to the game itself.

:) I agree it's just a name It will be the same game. :)
:) I will just end up calling it Animal Crossing Wii anyway so the name dont matter to me. :D

  130. gamingprincess Sunday 28th Sep 2008 at 15:31

lol..am i the only one that likes the new name? i don't find it childish at all. I think it sounds better than the old name but they should've kept it short

:) I Dont Mind the new name :D

  131. gamingprincess Sunday 28th Sep 2008 at 15:35

Totally dissapointing name. =/ Shame on Nintendo.

When I get AC:Wii I'm still calling it Animal Crossing City Folk. Or Animal Crossing. Or Animal Crossing Wii.

:) I will just end up calling it Animal Crossing Wii to just like i call the other ones Animal Crossing GameCube and animal Crossing DS :)

  132. gamingprincess Sunday 28th Sep 2008 at 15:37

surely it would of been better as
    animal crossing, blood bath edition.

    no, wait it isn't a 360 game.

anyway, "a name is a name" (silent laughter) it doesn't change anything, except the overall sales.

its not as bad as red bull bc one. WHAT THE RAFFI

    paul d, obviously

    LOL

  135. daximus Sunday 28th Sep 2008 at 17:17

Its Good The Name But wasn't It originally Called City Folk

  136. Genuine Article Sunday 28th Sep 2008 at 20:04

All the new name is doing is making Animal Crossing less popular (more or less evryone in my year loves it, theyll laugh at the new name) and making it sound babyish.

  137. Blobofdoom Monday 29th Sep 2008 at 14:45

    old name was better

    I blame the government.

  138. Ryu5 Tuesday 30th Sep 2008 at 15:05

  ...Nintendo are the worst people for coming up with names. First Revolution sounded just fine and they changed it to wii. Then this  ...

Oh well though, its just a name. The game hopefully won't be as bad as the name suggests.

    duh

WHAT?!?!!? Wii is so much better than "revoloution" it sounds as if there trying to adopt a 360 sort of name. Wii is so much better, plus the puns are endless...

  139. Dark Lucario Wednesday 1st Oct 2008 at 05:20

Does it really matter, the game will still suck badly, just like the DS version did.

What are you talking about? The Animal Crossing Series is fantastic. There's nothing wrong with the DS version, and the Wii version will be juust as good, if not better, which it probably will be.

  140. User49 Wednesday 1st Oct 2008 at 08:00

    Zomg WTF!!1!shift+1

  141. aaron-171 Thursday 2nd Oct 2008 at 10:07

Aparently the change was because in some accents when saying the word 'folk' it sounds like a silmilar four lettered word begining and ending in the same letters. Personally I think thats hillarious but the last thing a parent needs is a child pestering them for city... you know what I mean.

Yeah I know what u mean its probably a good idea to change the name of it then but it should've been something else like "Animal Crossing City People" or "Animal Crossing Town" or something else I dont know maybe "Animal Crossing Free World" i think free world is a good name for it

  142. aaron-171 Thursday 2nd Oct 2008 at 10:09

Im either gonna call it Animal Crossing Wii or Animal crossing or just City folk

  143. belsey Thursday 2nd Oct 2008 at 19:43

i think that aniaml crossing city folk sounded better than the new name lol. its more catchy and easier to remember because it was short 'n' sweet! lets go to the city isent as gooda name, but i'll be buying it anyway!!!! :) :D

  144. Bobby64i Thursday 2nd Oct 2008 at 19:46

Prefered it as it was but oh well- the game it still gonna be one of 2008s best :D Definitly be buying it :D

  145. Super_Sonic96 Friday 3rd Oct 2008 at 16:38

That is the most ridiculous name i have ever heard.
Sure, City folk may have been a bit misleading, but at least it flowed properly, now it sounds kiddy and something that a 4 year old would play, hopefully Ninny will change it back or give it a better name, her's one now.

Animal Crossing: City of Terror Racoon strike!

    Now that is a name!!!
